Hazel is a roly poly!

Sweet Hazel is rolling from her tummy to her back. She kinda just flips herself over without a care in the world! It happened about a week ago...but it happened and I was completely shocked. We were at the outdoor play area/restaurant/river walk/live band thing. Hazel was on her tummy on the blanket facing uphill. I was about 2 feet away taking pictures of my brother's family. Then I hear a lady yell, "She just rolled over!" I turned around and sure enough she was on her back. The lady turned OBNOXIOUS and was acting like she was about to roll down the hill and she saved her life. It's amazing my kids are still alive...geez. Pissed me off and embarrassed me so bad!
The picture above is Hagen in Hazel's crib telling her she was a good girl taking a nap in her crib. She slept for 2 hours. We have been doing Crib Boot camp...she's doing good!!
This is Hazel mid flip...what a look of concentration!

Hagen has been going to TONS of birthday parties lately! We went to one at Planet Pizza and he had the BEST time! I hate these places...but I think we are going to have his at Planet Pizza too...I mean, look at how much fun he is having! This is one of MANY smiley pictures of the day! It has rides like this that kids as young as 2 can go on by themselves.

Hazel has a weird butt...thunder thighs and all. So cute, but man...hope baby spanks come out soon! Totally kidding...

She is getting alot better to handle...for me anyway. We are best friends...she is really attached to me...and she is kinda fussy with other people. I'm really worried about her flat head. I think I see it as being worse. Hope we don't have to do the helmet thing, but will if we need to!
Ryan has been traveling still. Tell you what, it makes you love each other even more for some odd reason! When he gets home after being gone a week I just can't get enough of him! We can sit and talk forever and I love it! I would rather him not travel at all, but the welcome home is nice.
Work is going GREAT! Busy, which is good. Hagen is so gentle and sweet to Hazel. The only thing he does that ticks her off is he will scare her with his screeching or if he yells or makes a quick move. She is a scardy cat...
Tata,
Carrie

P.S. We were at Home Depot yesterday getting air filters and Hagen asked what they were. We told him they and he said what do they do. We told him they clean the air. He stopped and then giggled, "They clean our tooty air?!" Ummmmmm...yep! They do!

Valentine's Day...we are all about romance here!

Ryan and I view Valentine's Day as just another day. We don't get all crazy with gifts or anything. We think that everyday is a day to show someone you love them...not just a particular day of the year.

I called him on the way home from work and we had a discussion of "should we get the kids gifts?" "Are we bad parents if we don't?"

It was decided that he would get Hazel and I something from him and Hagen and I would get them something from Hazel and I.

I got them chocolate covered strawberries and Hagen a big chocolate covered marshmallow heart. They got me a light up rose and a slim jim (inside joke....) and Hazel got a little chick that chirps. She LOVES her bird. It kept her entertained for a whole 7 minutes so I could scarf down my dinner!

Dinner...we have a ritual that we get Wing Stop...don't be jealous. We both love it! Lemon Pepper baby...it's the best! And fries and celery and ranch. It was delicious!

Hagen and Hazel had eventful Valentine's Days! Let's start with Hazel's. She was looking all cute in her white leggings with silver stars on them and her pink top. I guess she looked quite delicious to a particular little boy named Jackson. He is an older boy...he crawls. He crawled over to the little lady, pulled her sock off, and started sucking on her little toes! Her teacher said it was so funny that they just had to watch and laugh! Good thing that she gets a bath nightly so her toes are always pristine.

Hagen...he said that he had 2 valentine's last week...Juliette and Danni. Danni?! How come I do not know Danni! I was asking about her and he said she is cute. I asked him what she looks like. He said she has TWO pony tails!! Yellow pony tails. I made him introduce her to me when I took him to school. She is about a foot taller than him and is really cute. BUT I am SOOOO partial to Juliette. When Ryan and I picked him up from school today he said that he only has one valentine...Juliette. He said that Danni told him she didn't want to be his girlfriend. Hagen could have cared less...I wanted to go ask her why?! But then again, Juliette was there to offer her love to Hagen. Hagen went and hugged Chase and Jackson goodbye...it was sweet.

We got mini bundt cakes for the lovely teachers...they were delicious! Lemon, Chocolate, Red Velvet, and Raspberry White Chocolate...

Happy Valentine's Day!

Worst week in Darney history!

Last week was one of the worst weeks of my life. I’m glad that this week is proving to be WAY better!!

It all started when Ryan left for the week to go out of town for work. That always bums me out on Sunday afternoon when he has to go.

Monday I woke up coughing…no biggie. Went to work and left around noon because I was having horrible coughing attacks! Who wants to sit next to that! I came home, did some work and PASSED out cold. I mean, dreaming and all! Went to get the kids and had everyone in bed by 6:30…Hagen has been requesting to go to bed at certain times. It just so happened to be early thank the lord.

Tuesday we woke up to find ice on the ground so school was canceled! I was in BAD shape. I felt bad…coughing my butt off. We watched an insane amount of TV that day…and then Dapper brought me a dead rat he found outside…he killed it…I wanted to kill him!! Finally loaded up the car with the kids and dog and headed to my parents house. I felt like my brain was just sloshing in my skull…I couldn’t think straight. So I put Hazel to bed around 6:00 and I followed shortly after that.

On Wednesday morning I decided I needed to go to the doctor. LOVE web check in! I waited at Mom’s house for 3 hours and then they called and said they were ready for me. I was shocked to find out I had the FLU! I get my flu shot RELIGIOUSLY every year but I still got it. I had body aches, headache, coughing, etc. I was in bad shape.

I went by the house to gather some things that we needed and to check our pipes…well, the freaking kitchen sink faucet froze!!! But it thawed out on its own. Tommy (Ryan’s best friend) came by a few times to put a space heater on to help it out. Ryan has since insulated the area to help us not have to deal with that again!

Hazel has been not sleeping very well…poor baby has snot nose and just having a hard time. On Friday morning she was coughing and just sounding horrible…weak cry included. Hagen was acting like he was sick as well, so I loaded up the kiddos and we headed to Acute Kids Care…said on the website it would be open at noon (everywhere else is closed). I pull up and park and at 12:15 someone comes to knock on my window saying they decided the weather was too bad and they are NOT opening. Meanwhile sweet Hazel is crying her weak cry, Hagen is coughing up a lung, and I feel like road kill!

I call where I went a few days earlier and they don’t see babies less than 6 months old…so I headed to the ER. Hazel was positive for RSV and the FLU. Hagen…he just had a cold (negative strep and flu).

It was just a horrible week…AND…I had my first period since having Hazel, my milk is drying up because of the antibiotics and not eating very much, etc. Just a bad bad week.

So bad that Mr. Darney wrote me a SWEET letter. He is not the most romantic person in the world (which is fine because neither am I) but he emailed me a letter on Friday that just melted me…it was so incredibly sweet! I try to shield him from problems at the house when he is away because that doesn’t help…but there was no hiding the fact that last week sucked…

We ended up with 4 snow days…had our 5th yesterday but Daddy was home to help share the load.

Hope everyone is staying safe and warm!

Carrie

Don't stick your fingers in there Hagen...

...so last night we went to my SIL's house...you know, the saint? Kristen, Ryan's sister. She is honestly one of those near perfect people. I love her...she is so sweet! And no she doesn't read my blog so this is for real!

My niece Ashlyn turned 17 today so we went to their house for dinner and to celebrate! My younger niece Courtney has 2 hamsters. We asked if they bite and the little brown one doesn't...the other does. So we told Hagen to not put his fingers in the cages to avoid them thinking his fingers were the pizza he just ate. Here is how it went down...Ryan witnessed the whole thing:

Hagen looked around and noticed that no one was looking...he was in the clear.
Ryan was looking at him through his peripheral vision...
Hagen noticed the little brown (the one that doesn't bite) one sleeping in the corner of his cage and began poking at him.
Hamster didn't wake up so Hagen kept at it...poking...poking...
Hamster turned around looked at Hagen and bit his finger.
Hagen stepped back with a shocked look on his face...looked at his finger...no blood...yet
Hagen looked over at Ryan who was giving him the "I told you so look"
Hagen looked at his finger again and the smallest drop of blood showed up and he LOST it...

Hagen, these are times in life when you learn things the hard way. I'm sorry for stifling in my laugh...but the vision of you poking at this poor little guy who was just trying to sleep (and the way your Daddy explained the story to me) was just too much. Lesson learned...now let's move on. Love you little Hagen.

*****************************************
Hazel, you are just too cute! You know, waking up with a newborn in the middle of the night is tiring, but seeing your sweet little warm body all wrapped up and just wanting to eat is really sweet. I almost jump out of bed when I hear you wake up to feed you.

I'll be honest though...I'm DRAGGING butt. I'm exhausted. I can not WAIT to sleep from the time I lay down until 6:30 when the alarm goes off without getting up. It will be a glorious morning!

This morning after I showered I came in to check on you and you were just laying there watching the ceiling fan go round and round. When you heard me say good morning you started fist pumping and smiling...love you little Hazel.

Carrie

Howdy!

I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one that is struggling with Blogging! I just have nothing interesting to say! I do have some pictures though...below is Hazel in love with her Daddy. Check out her flat head...her ponytail is just not going to look right if I don't get this under control. We have been doing tummy time alot so hopefully that neck will get stronoger and we don't have to wear a hockey helmet thing to get it rounded out and pretty!
I have found some cute little bows that stay in her hair! On her few hairs on top...she gets so pissed when I put them in but she gets over it quickly. She is up to drinking 4 ounce bottles at school now!
Ryan has been traveling...Hagen always makes sure that Ryan packs some heat because the dragons are bad where he goes (the new favorite movie has been "How to Train your Dragon"). Ryan came home after Hagen had gone to bed and went to go wake him up and say he was home. Hagen was chattering non-stop "Say hi to Hazel, Say hi to Mama, Say hi to Dapper and kitty, it's cold outside, I'm in a new class..." then paused and asked Ryan, "Why are you talking so much? I gotta get some rest!" and went back to sleep. This was all while he was still sleeping...sleep talking?!

We have had Noah spend the night, Strep, random vomit, sinus infections, etc. so it has been eventful. But thankfully it hasn't gotten me! When Mama is sick...no one is happy...I make sure of it. I would like to give a shout out to our military families. This traveling hubby thing is hard! Don't get me wrong, things are going great with work and the kids are doing great at school, but it is lonely. I routinely am in bed at 8:00 or 8:30...

You can't see it in the picture above but I am wearing a new favorite! Merrilee got me a necklace that has the kids names on it. I LOVE IT. I have been wanting one for awhile and when Santa didn't bring it I was kinda bummed, but I got alot of neat things so just thought I would go get me one for my birthday or something. Then I got a package from Mer. Mer...I love it so much! It hasn't been taken off since I put it on and I don't wear my jewelry at night. Thank you SOO SOO much!!

As you can see from the above picture, Hagen is really into Hazel! He is being very sweet with her. When she is crying he will get whatever he is playing with and go sit next to her to "show" her what he is doing. He also wants to help...bath, changing diaper, putting her clothes in the hamper, Feeding her a bottle, etc. I put his old baby highchair thing that attaches to our chairs next to his at the dinner table so she can sit next to him (it reclines)...he LOVES it! She just stares at him and smiles from time to time...
He has been asking to go to bed at 6:30 or so everynight because he is tired. Uh, OK! Let's go! It is nice to have her in bed around 6:00 and him in bed at 6:30 or 7:00...gives me time to get things in order for the morning and catch up on a few shows and still get in bed early.
On Friday nights we have been doing PJ dinner at my brother's house. It is nice...we alternate who is doing dinner, the kids play, and we go in our PJ's. We are usually home by 8:00 or so but it is nice to have something to do on Friday nights!
That's all I got...kinda boring!

Hazel is 2 months old!

Hazel had her 2 month well visit and she is doing great! She is weighing 9 pounds 13.5 ounces which puts her at 50%!! She is 75% in height and head circumference. She is doing fabulous!
Sista has a bit of a flat head on her right side. It is the side she prefers to lay on when sleeping, resting, whatever. So we have been working on more tummy time for Hazo!
When we were at the doctor for her appointment I had Hagen with me. He was going to be holding her hand when she got her shots. But at the last minute he decided to sit in the chair. When she started crying he was getting sad...he didn't like knowing that she was getting hurt. Sweet boy!

She is growing up so fast. She didn't like a paci at all until about a week or two ago. She likes the big obnoxious green monster from the hospital. I stocked up on them from Albertson's and we are good to go! She is waking up once a night to eat and then taking a paci the rest of the time. When we get home at night from school it is the crazy "rush to get dinner done" time of day. Hazel likes to be held and snuggled at that time also. So she has been cooking "with" me alot. I figured out that I can put her in a bouncy chair in the kitchen and she is happy watching me. Makes for an easier process that's for sure!!
She is eating good...3 ounce bottles at school. She has 3 bottles and then I feed her the rest of the time. Sweet precious baby girl...love her so much!
Love,
Mama
