Hagen wants the Easter Bunny to suck it...

...he made me call him tonight and tell him he doesn't want him to come to our house.

I panicked...Ryan said to call Papa...Papa is out of town, so I called my brother. He answered and I said, "Is this the Easter Bunny?" He went right along with the unplanned plan.

Hagen wanted to actually talk to the EB.

Hagen: "EB, I don't want you to come to my house"
EB: "Hello Hagen!"
Hagen: "I have enough eggs at my house so you don't come"
EB: "Why don't you want me to come to your house?"
Hagen: (passes me the phone)

He is scared of the EB just like he was scared of Santa.

On another note Hagen is calling me sweetie. I may use that word alot and he may have picked it up from me. It's kinda cute to hear him say "No thank you sweetie".

The house smelled like vomit...Ryan thought so too. We figured out that the air filters needed to be changed VERY.BADLY. We turned the air on yesterday and it is just stirring things up. I hope this hizzy starts smelling better very soon.

Night night,
Carrie

Our first Pregnancy Appointment

We went for our first pregnant appointment yesterday! I am 7 weeks 2 days today! The baby looks great and has a strong heartbeat of 154 BPM. Our due date is November 14th, but we will probably induce early by a week or so like we did with Hagen. I would like to copy EXACTLY what we did the first time because it was perfect…but I understand it will be different.

I can take Tylenol PM or Benedryl to sleep…I tried Tylenol PM last night and it didn’t really help all that much, but I have been sleeping a bit better lately anyway. Around 4:00 I am pretty much up for the day…but doze off here and there. Good thing is that I don’t feel that tired…more just LAZY.

I'll be honest...I've been really worrying about multiples. With my dream of twin girls last week, my friend getting pregnant with triplets, and just the chances of multiples increasing when you are 35 my mind has been racing! Now, of course if there was more than one in there we would be excited and love all of our babies...it just would have been very hard. I'm glad to have one healthy one in there!

That’s all I have right now! Work is busy which is always good.

Carrie

Weekend

Ladies, I have a problem. I have insomnia. I can not sleep for the life of me! I have that restless leg thing so that doesn't help, but then just not being able to sleep. I'll sleep for 20 or so minutes and then be up forever! I'm tired...not as tired as I thought I would be but I'm dragging.

Yesterday I went to a wedding shower and the boys planted flowers in the front yard. They did a GREAT job! It looks awesome!

On Friday night Ryan and I wanted Craw fish. So we went to Nate's...best ever. We get it with Turbo on it which is VERY spicy. I think Hagen was absolutely grossed out watching us eat them. When they first took the lid off of the plate he screamed...like a little girl...thought they were alive. We often heard, "don't do that!" or "NO, stop it" while pulling their little heads off. I can totally see that being nasty to most people.

I saw my friend that was pregnant with the triplets that went to two. She is down to one...but it is strong and has been the strongest the whole time. She is relieved but was kinda getting excited about twins. She said when she first found out there were triplets the nurses and doctors weren't even congratulating her...they would say they were sorry. Which now is funny, but at the time it was not. Anyway, there were lots of pregnant people there and it was fun to be one of them. They would ask me how far along I am and I'd tell them and they would get the, "OH, so you are really REALLY early" look.

I stuffed eggs last night for Easter at the Darney's next weekend. I ran out of candy so I started putting coins in the rest. I wasn't going to put coins in them, but changed my mind at the end.

Hagen and I are off to Juliette's Birthday party today at the Gym where her Mama works. She is a gymnastics coach. I think he will have a blast!! Hopefully I can get a nap in this afternoon and actually sleep.

Cute Hagen story

We have Daffodils in the backyard. The other week on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse they were getting ready for the fancy dance and Goofy needed to get a dilly of a daffodilly for Clarabelle for the dance. So whenever we see the daffodils in the backyard I tell Hagen, "That there is a dilly of a daffodilly!"

This morning I had a shirt on that had some yellow flowers on it. Hagen said, "look Mama, you have a Dapper-dilly on your shirt!" Our dogs name is Dapper and sweet baby thought they were named for Dapper.

Cute.

I stood my ground last night. I turned off the monitor 3 times when he started whining for Wa-Ter.

We all survived. I am having insomnia! I can not sleep at all! Just little naps throughout the night.

Woah!

I had a dream last night that Hagen and I went to a sonogram and I was pregnant with Twin.Girls...woah!

Hagen slept on my floor last night...again...Ryan is out of town and this seems to have become a routine. One that I am not fond of or proud of. I just do not feel comfortable turning off the monitor when Ryan is out of town! I consoled him a few times and finally at 11:00 he was coming downstairs with me because Mama needs some sleep.

So I kicked Dapper and Chloe out, laid out the puppy sleeping bag and went to sleep. Would you believe that damn dog started barking at 6:00! I'm sure it was a leaf blowing by...then he laid by our door and moaned until I finally got him up and out to potty and fed at 7:00...

Grr Dapper...GRR!

Carrie

Confession time:
I didn't pack a lunch with the essential snacks and I didn't make my egg, 1 T diced ham, 1 T cheese and wheat toast this morning (diabetic diet when I was pregnant with Hagen) so I am eating AWFUL! I'm serious. You ready?

Breakfast: I ordered mozzarella sticks with my tea at Sonic...don't knock it...you will love them too. I almost love the marinara that comes with it as much as the cheese...I have thought about asking for about 6 of those suckers so that I can put it on pasta and have dinner already made.

AM snack: Nothing

Lunch: Went to Grandy's....bad start just pulling into the drive thru. I got Chicken Fried Steak, Mashed potatoes with gravy, and fried okra. I then asked for extra gravy on the side and a cinnamon roll with lots of icing. WHAT.THE.HELL. I feel like in that movie "7" the gluttony part...I feel SO gross. I did refrain from ordering a real coke and got my unsweet tea AND I didn't eat the okra...it was really slimy on the inside...kinda grossed me out!

Hagen and his new duds

I went shopping for some new summer duds for the little dude. Now, as most of you know buying my kiddo pants to fit his tiny waist and skinny hiney (just like his Mama) is very hard!

I went though his clothes from last summer and the shorts still fit. Yeah! So that means that I have not had to buy many shorts...just t-shirts. I LOVE funky t-shirts...vintage spider man, older worn out shirts...the latest favorite is "Super Grover"...love it!

Now the main part that I am wanting to say is that his shorts are 6-12 months...yes, you heard that right. My almost 3 year old (OMG) wears 6-12 month shorts and 3T shirts. He is just so little...I love it. I still don't get tired holding him around. He is just so light and little. I can not get enough of cupping his little hiney in my hand before bath...it's that cute and little. Ryan thinks I am obsessed with it, but I can't help it...I have to pinch it, cup it, etc. You would too if you could!

Ryan was out of town so we met a good friend for dinner. We were there for 1 hour and 45 minutes and sweet little boy sat in his highchair the whole time eating chips and hot sauce, mac & Cheese and veggies and dip. We had 3 potty breaks as well. I was so proud as it was dinner with a friend that hasn't seen him in a couple of years. He made sure and lifted his shirt to show that the macaroni was in his belly (we always say that we see through his belly at how much he ate...which isn't too far from the truth).

I told her I was pregnant which was difficult for me. You see, she is going through what I went through in a slightly different way when I was trying to get pregnant with Hagen. We had unexplained infertility (not sure why I couldn't get pregnant)...she has unexplained miscarriages (she had 3 last year). It is always hard to tell someone that is going through that "I'm pregnant". I remember hearing my friends say they are pregnant and I was so happy for them...honestly...but it would just hurt me so bad. I told her I know it is hard to hear...I understood...she was sweet and said she was really excited but yes, it hurts. I don't understand why such good people have trouble having babies.

On other news, my friend that did IVF a few weeks ago...PREGNANT...WITH TWINS!!! Woo Hoo! SO happy for her.

I'm going to go eat a chunk of cookie dough now...

Tata,
Carrie

Grr!

Ryan is going out of town again. It is totally not his fault, but it just bugs me! I know there are hubby's out there that travel way more than Ryan and I really don't know how you ladies do it! I get so lonely.

We skipped Little Gym last night...I think I am going to be a little gym dropout and you know what? I could care less! The teacher's screechy voice is enough to put me over the edge. Now, I will say that the kids love her...I'm just being a brat.

Hagen and I are going on a date tonight with one of Mama's friends and then tomorrow night we are going on ANOTHER date with one of Hagen's little teachers, Ms. Angie. She is moving in April and I think Hagen is one of her favorite. I'm so excited that I don't have to cook! You know how I am when my man is out of town. Lord...if he traveled 100% I would be as big as a house from going out to eat every night...and poor!

So, I buy most of Hagen's clothes. I pick it all out and I love doing it. Ryan will buy a signature piece here and there like:
1. Wranglers
2. Camo rain boots
3. Camo hoodie pullover from Bass Pro
4. Dear hunter shirt
5. Baseball Hat

You get the idea. Which is totally fine, not complaining at all. But today was bring your rain boots to school day! Hagen was so excited to bring his camo rain boots to show his friends. He marched in and promptly told the teachers "My Daddy got these for me!!!" Wow...he must be pretty special...way better than your Mama that dresses you from head to toe EVERYDAY. ;)

Oh, and an update on Hagen and his new t-ball set. Ryan was at softball last night so Hagen and I were playing t-ball in the yard. I think he may have some skills! Athletic skills! Like a real athlete! He is making contact with the ball every time! Now, you may think this is kinda of a no brainer, but we were thinking that he really didn't get the athletic gene. My side is in the band with a bit of running in it. Ryan...he is all sports...soccer, football, baseball, you name it. Ryan was SCRAPPY! In High school he was "the fastest white kid in Plano" for his graduating year...the "white" kid part was in there because one of his buddies Kenny was the fastest...so really Ryan was the 2nd fastest. Kenny and Ryan were both shorter than the others, but man...they were SCRAPPY and FAST. I got to cheer for them in 9th and 10th grade...they were good...I just had a flashback of Ryan's hiney in Mrs. Newman's English class...was it 9th or 10th grade Mer? Drool...

We will not be parents that push him to do something WE want him to do, but I am so happy to see him be interested in t-ball...Ryan would be SO.EXCITED. Honestly, over the moon...

Tata,
Carrie

P.S. first sonogram and appointment on Tuesday can NOT get here fast enough...

Hagen tooted on the rug...funny story!

Ryan is upstairs giving Hagen a bath. He called for me to get 1 candy (Hagen made a small poop I guess) and that he had to tell me something funny.

I get the candy and head upstairs. Ryan meets me at the top laughing...Hagen is sitting on the potty still. Ryan said that Hagen bent over to put his stool in front of the potty so he could go before his bath and totally sharted on the rug!

Hagen said, "Daddy, I tooted!" looked at the rug and said that the cleaning people need to clean that up.

Uh...OK...we don't tell the cleaning people to clean up sharts in our house....that is just crossing the line Mr. Hagen.

Hagen was backed up most of last week so we have been giving him Miralax (turbolax). Well it finally kicked in and is upsetting his tummy! It takes awhile to kick in and then when it does it is too late and he has issues. Ugh...can't win.

Snow on the first day of spring?

We had a VERY lazy weekend! Honestly, it was cold, it snowed, and was just yuck. So we went to Blockbuster, loaded up on movies, and just vegged! It was nice!

We did go to a little girls birthday party at Wiggly Play Center on Saturday. I told Ryan that I would just take him and that he can go to the gym. The Wiggly Play center is like a giant hamster cage for kiddos. I lost my kiddos on more than just one occasion! He would enter, I would run around like a maniac watching him...then it would happen...he would disappear. Did he go down the slide? No...did he go down the other slide? No... It was crazy! I had a girl there that was mom to Jackson and she brought him to me twice. She understood because her and her hubby were losing Jackson and there were 2 of them!

All in all it was a great party and we had alot of fun. It is definitely birthday party season!

On Saturday night the snow came through...I think we got 8 inches! It was crazy...Hagen and Ryan played for a bit in it but I was so over the cold! I didn't even step foot out in it except to take a few pictures. I instead made potato soup and watched a lifetime movie!

I am getting a bit tired, but not too bad. I will say that Ryan and I figured out that the pickles that we were using for the chicken salad were bad! Ryan finally agreed that they tasted terrible! So we got new ones and we are good to go! I could not believe that pickles would change their taste that fast and badly!

Ryan got Hagen a new t-ball thingie and they are playing it outside while demolishing the last bit of our snowman. I'm not sure who is having more fun...Hagen playing t-ball or Ryan "golfing" at the snowman.

Happy Monday!
Carrie

Embarrasing Moment...

...today is going to be an interesting day. I had to return to the house 2 times after fully pulling out of the driveway this morning. Once to take my medicine (progesterone) and then to find my flipping phone! NOTHING makes me more irritated in the morning than when I can't find my phone.

Took Hagen to school and we immediately went into the theatre room because Mr. David was there! This is the guitar playing puppet showing guy that Hagen loves. No hug or kiss goodbye...he shyly walked up to Miss Wikita and sat down...acting all shy. I left and was off to work.

Now for the embarrassing moment. I was sitting at my cube devouring a glazed donut. I mean...only a couple of bites devouring. Our partners bring donuts, pigs in a blanket, etc. on Friday mornings.

Anyway a piece of glaze got lost in my shirt. So I dug it out (so I could eat it) and HELLO, someone walks up to ask me a question. I obviously work with very nice people because HE didn't say anything about it and acted like nothing happened. I'm sitting here sweating bullets while that glaze just sits on my belly...still in my shirt...probably melting...won't come off until I shower next because of the amount of embarrassment.

cheers to this fabulous day,
Carrie

I don't feel very intelligent anymore...and my kid is out of control.

...not that I felt intelligent before, but I really don't now. I've been duped by my almost 3 year old. he knows when Daddy is out of town and totally takes advantage of me.

He has been in the "why" phase for a few weeks now and I thought I would teach him something! So When he asked why I asked him back, "well why do you think?" He responded, "I no no...I asked you" or something like that.

This morning Hagen was sitting in time out at 7:15...yep, still in soggy wet diaper and footie PJ's and he was in time out. For saying no to me...multiple times...and yelling at me. Now, baby...I'm not a morning person either, but I am better now that you have graced my mornings! I just wish it was the same for you. Mama is nice to you in the morning, can't you be nice back?

It all started last night. Ryan is out of town (again...starting to hate it) so I went to dinner with my parents! Hagen ate his weight in chips and hot sauce as did I. We came home and did bath, a book, and bed. He topped it off with a good ole "Love you Mama!" and was asleep in minutes.

I went downstairs and got on my work email and before I knew it I was late for bed...that would be 10:00. So I turned the computer off, let the doggie out, and went to bed.

10:20 Hagen is crying...seems like a bad dream...I go console him
10:25 Hagen whining...not stopping...I go console...he's thirsty
10:30 Hagen screaming...wants to be snuggled...I give in...rock a bit and put him back to bed..tuck the damn puppet alligator in 1,000 times and tell him to hush and go to sleep
10:35 Hagen whining again. I stomp upstairs, grab him, grab pillow, grab damn alligator puppet, and put him on his nap mat by my bed and tell him that it is WAY late and he needs to be good and go to sleep. Then I turn off my alarm clock.

Hagen has been having "goopy eyes" for 2 nights now. This is usually a sign for Pink Eye, but not so much for Hagen...it means that he is probably getting sick. This is what happened 2 weeks ago when Ryan was out of town again and Hagen got Strep.

He was whining all night long...I woke up a bit late, told him to sit in my bed and watch Mickey while I shower and then I would get him some milk and breakfast.

I freaking forgot the cleaning people are coming today and the house looks like a flippin tornado flew through! Ugh! AND I forgot to pack my flipping lunch/snacks. BAD.START.

Hagen got mad at me because the hairdryer was loud. Tough honey...

He was also mad at me because I took off his soggy diaper and PJ's and told him to go potty, I perched his hiney on the pot and made him go (which of course he did alot) and then put his undies on. He was still mad telling me no, and I don't want to, etc. I told him if he told me no one more time he was going to time out...he immediately said no. So off to time out he went...in his under ware.

THEN, put his clothes on and he was still angry about something and I told him that if he wasn't nice then Mickey was going to be turned off...immediately said something else to test me, Mickey was turned off, and then I had a helper sit right next to me while I finished getting ready. That means that I had to scrub eye shadow off his forehead before school.

Just a bad start. I was actually relieved to get to work and relax...it's quiet here...and no one wipes boogers on me.

Tata,
Carrie

P.S. Ryan just called to say he is going to miss his flight and will have to take the later one...fabulous honey...just don't bother...just stay there the week...ugh...

P.S.S. Doctor called and told me blood test results. On Monday HCG was 4,500...it was to double by Wednesday which it did and was 10,689! Yippee!

UPDATE: Ryan came home early! Hagen and I were in the front yard collecting sticks and he pulled up...yippee!!

1st Pregnancy Symptom?

I actually don't feel that well today! Yippee! Now, you are probably wondering why this is exciting for me. It is because I have had NO symptoms except for my ice tea tasting like Moth Balls the other day and my chicken salad tasting like peanuts.

The ice tea tasting like Moth Balls was VERY.SAD. I am addicted to Sonic Ice Tea. It will not be given up. I drank it even though I was gagging it down.

I went to the doctor to get blood tests on Monday and this morning. They will call me tomorrow to let me know if my numbers have doubled. I'm sure everything is fine, but I just want someone else to confirm it!

Hagen has been difficult lately. I think he knows that my patience is down and he is just on point! You tell him to do something, he collapses and whines. You tell him "not right now Hagen" and he collapses and whines. You LOOK his direction (not directly at him) and he collapses and whines.

And I swear, that damn rubber frog? It is going in the trash. I have to go on a frog hunt every morning and every night before bed. It is about 1 inch X 1 inch people...it disappears easily!

Little Gym last night...you know my feelings about it. I feel bad because it is supposed to be time for us to hang out with Hagen and show him how to listen to the teacher and behave and above all have fun! It was my turn last night and Hagen and I spent most of the time laying on the mats! He was not in the mood. I didn't push him because we all know I wasn't in the mood either! We had a good time as usual, but I was really glad to sing the goodbye song!

Ryan's out of town tonight...hmmm...where should we go eat?! I'm lazy... Pia, I know you are reading this...wanna take Hagen and I on a date? Patrizios? Cantina Laredo? Uncle Julio's? I'll even pay! As long as it is not over $20...I'm budgeting...

Tata,
Carrie

UPDATE: It worked...Mom and Dad are taking us on a date to Cantina Laredo tonight! Woo Hoo! No cooking for me! I'm so relieved...

UPDATE #2: Chicken Salad is not going to work anymore. Crap! That was my goto lunch! Tasted terrible today...so bad I couldn't finish it! Blackberries tasted weird too...like dirt kinda...and I washed them...

Nice morning!

This morning was so nice!

I'll be honest, it was tough to get out of bed because it was the 1st Monday morning after the painful time change. I snoozed once though and got up and in the shower. I was wondering why Ryan was still sleeping. When I got out of the shower I woke Ryan up to make sure he was just sleeping later and not LATE. He said he was just sleeping in a bit.

He will usually get ready fast and leave for work pretty quickly. This morning he took his time and we actually sat down at the table and ate eggs and toast...all 3 of us!

Usually our mornings are fast moving. Hagen gets dressed, picks out his breakfast (nutri-grain bar, granola bar, mini muffins, fruit loops, etc.) and I get him milk and he sits on the couch to eat and watch Mickey Mouse clubhouse while I finish getting ready.

It was so nice this morning and I was only about 10 minutes late. I need to eat eggs and toast in the AM since being pregnant. I am doing the diabetic diet to prepare myself for GD...pretty sure I have a higher risk of getting it again.

Happy Monday!
Carrie

Day on the farm and a picnic

Ryan took Hagen out to his Friends parents place in Sulfur Springs. That is where Ryan hunts mostly...it's free...not long from home...and he enjoys it.

Ryan took him out there today and they went fishing, deer hunting, 4 wheeling, and had a great time! Hagen fishing really means that he just stuck his hand in the bucket of minnows and threw them in the pond. Deer hunting means just going to look at Daddy's deer stand. Ryan said he told Hagen "this is where I hunt!" and Hagen responded, "Oh, thanks for telling me!" In a nice overjoyed way, not a sarcastic way. He hasn't learned the Darney sarcasm yet. He loved the 4-wheeler! He called it "4 lealer"...

When the boys got home we grilled out hot dogs and had a picnic! The picnic lasted MAYBE 5 minutes from start to finish. I went out to put a blanket in the yard and right when I was about to lay it down, Dapper squatted and peed like no body's business...damn dog. Once we sat down, Dapper choked on grass right behind me and he sounded like Uncle Eddie's dog gagging on a bone under the Christmas dinner table. THEN, Hagen pointed out a nice hot steamy pile Dapper left recently! Nice...appetite lost.

We wrapped up the night playing Frisbee and then called it a night.

I took a 3rd test today...still positive. I feel so weird not being checked by a doctor. I'm not worried, but just...I don't know...weird. By the time I was 6 weeks pregnant with Hagen I had already had 4 sonograms. Still feeling really good!!

Water Fart

Got your attention huh?!

OK, so tonight we went to cook out hamburgers at my brothers house. The boys got in the bath at the end of the night and when it was done we were going in to pluck Hagen out of the bubbles and he just froze...standing in the bubbly water...with his hands on his butt cheeks. He farted and it was the loudest longest water fart E.V.E.R!

Adam, Ryan, Rebecca, Pia, and I just stopped looked at each other and died laughing! It was the funniest thing I've heard in a long time!

I appreciate potty humor probably more than any other female out there. That is one fart that I can honestly say was the best one I've ever heard! You would have too if you were there...honest.

Ryan and I watched paranormal activity tonight...that is why I am blogging at 10:30 on a Saturday night. Mama is Freaked the hell out! That is some scary stuff! For those of you who have seen it why didn't he dump her butt and move out?

Later,
Carrie

Sleeping bear and by beautiful smelling man

Ryan came home last night. It was around 9:30 and I was so happy to see him! We sat and talked for awhile and it was just nice. I told him that Hagen wanted him to bring up his parrot puppet and give it to him while he was sleeping. We couldn't find the damn puppet but I told Ryan to go wake him up and snuggle and I would check his sheets for the parrot. We crept in there and Hagen sat up, looked at me, then looked at Ryan and scrambled to his feet and put his arms up for Ryan to hold him.

Hagen asked him if he had a good day today working on the airplane and what color the airplane was. Ryan told him he did have a good day and the plane was blue. Hagen said, "My cup in my bathroom is blue too!" WOW! I wish I got so excited at these little realizations...wouldn't life be grand?!

Ryan was working in Midland and flew on a plane to get home...he wasn't working ON an airplane.

Parrot has flown the coop...it is gonzo. I did find the damn rubbery frog though...yeah! Not.

So Ryan and I went to bed around 11:00 and before he came to bed he showered. Once we were all settled in I could smell perfume. I asked him if he put perfume on. He said (of course) No?!

It was his deodorant. Dude smells like a lady fo sho...gonna start calling him Ryanna.

Ahh...the "WHY?" stage...

Hagen has always been very perceptive. He is a detail oriented guy and talks alot. He has always asked lots of questions.

But dear lord. The "WHY?" stage has taken the cake! It's kinda funny to me because I remember my mom always talking about how my little brother was the WORST about asking why over and over and over. I think I have given birth to my brother because Hagen is too.

Tonight on the way to dinner (yes I took him out to eat the second night in a row because I am lazy and Ryan is out of town...plus it was Uncle Julio's and Mama wanted fajitas...and queso) here was the conversation:
H: Where are we going?
Mama: On a date!
H: Why?
M: because Daddy is still out of town and I don't want to cook
H: Why?
M: because I just don't
H: Why not Mama?
M: Because I said so
H: But why?
M: (I want to run into this wall with my car) it is Mama's night off
H: Why Mama?
M: Look, we're here!

This was one of many WHY conversations. They are kinda funny...at first. The thing about Hagen is that he is a bit pushy. He will keep asking until you REALLY answer it!

I think it is because he is just exceptionally smart and cute and fun and smart and way cute!

Tata,
Carrie

Date night, Hagen's finger, and questions...

Ryan is out of town...has been for two nights now. I'm ready for him to be back home! Hagen and I had 3 nights in a row of spaghetti which was wonderful (Coco, that recipe for the sauce is to die for) but it was time to switch it up. So we went on a date.

We rode the carousal, watched ice skating practice, and then went to Cheesecake Factory. I know it sounds like we do this alot, but we don't really. I just like that we can ride the horses and eat at Cheesecake mainly!! Now, I will say that I don't get the cheesecake...I am in love with the Chinese Chicken Salad...MMMGood!

Hagen was good for the most part except when he is approached he is doing that bratty little "acting shy" but really just being a little turd. But as always he was a good little date and I had fun with him.

His hurt carrot was not mentioned all day until we got home and it was bath time. He told me he couldn't have a bath because his finger hurt. He then proceeded to show it to me, but oops...it was the wrong one. So he looked at it and then pulled his other hand (with the ouie on it) and changed his mind. You see there is a little LITTLE scratch on the hurt one.

Last night was rough. Sweet boy was crying from about 9:15 until about 10:30. I kept going up and down the stairs to cuddle with him. I do this most of the time when he wakes up crying because he just really DOESN'T wake up crying. He was NOT going back to sleep. I finally kicked the pets out of my room, laid out his sleeping bag, and told him to go to sleep. Done, not a peep until about 7:00 this morning. I LOVE waking up beside him. I looked over the edge of my bed and his eyes were just wide open and he had the sweetest "I'm so happy to be alive and how fun is it to wake up by Mama" smile on his face. I swear, next time he sleeps in my room I'm going to put the camera by my bed and capture that sweetness first thing in the morning. It's kinda like when you have that newborn and you are SO.TIRED and don't want to get out of bed at 3:00 AM, but then you see those little beady eyes and you just relax and fall in love all over again.

One last thing on my mind. Now I am only 4-5 weeks pregnant. My boobs hurt but that is all. I'm not tired, not sick at my stomach, not eating crazy amounts of food, no cravings, etc. When I was pregnant with Hagen I was bleeding, cramping, in so much pain, exhausted, etc. but it was because I was on all sorts of medicines to become pregnant with him and developed cysts that busted and blead. This is SO out of the ordinary for me.

I called the nurse this morning and told her I feel like I should be watched more closely...am I high risk because I am over 35? Am I high risk because I had trouble conceiving the first time?

She really put my mind at ease. It is too early for me to be nauseous or tired or any of those things and NO, i'm not high risk. I am at a higher risk for something to be wrong with the baby after 35...no higher risk for the pregancy sake. So I am good now. Feel much better...

I have started the Gestational Diabetes diet already. I am going to try to keep myself from getting that again if I can help it. It may not help but it will help me from gaining 30 pounds by the time I was 1/2 way through the pregnancy!

Hagen and his hurt finger

Hagen is a small fry. He is little...he never really had the cute rubber band wrists that alot of babies have. His fingers are alot like those little LITTLE baby carrots!

I had my first urgent call to come get him from school today because of an accident. He got his baby carrot shut in the door and two little turds (I mean boys) were pushing the door harder on his pinkie. The lady at the front called me and said you need to come get him and I'm pretty sure he needs to go to the doctor. I asked if the skin is broken and if there was blood. She said neither, but it is swollen and he is pretty upset.

I drove fast and got there only to be stuck talking to the lady up front for about 10 minutes about kids slamming their fingers in doors. She also said she may have over reacted and he may not need to go to the doctor (meanwhile I already had called the doctor and was set to be seen after I pick him up). I finally escaped and started to go towards his room quickly. I was on a mission...but his teacher that talks alot blocked me...mind you I have yet to see my little boy.

She started asking me if I had heard what happened, I said yes and if you want to talk to me you need to follow me because I need to see Hagen. She said I know you know about the finger, but did you hear he got scratched too? Another little punk in his room that is notoriously a bully scratched him not once, but twice! Grrr...GRRRRRRR! Mama Bear MAD!

I didn't...I was irritated...I wanted to see my kid and check out his finger and see how bad it was!

I finally made it out to the playground where he was snuggled up to Ms. Angie with a rubber glove filled with cool water on his tiny finger. It was swollen a bit with a little LITTLE scratch on it. He started BAWLING! Basically had to reenact the whole ordeal. Poor baby. I told him we were going to see the doctor and he was terrified of getting a shot. I told him no shots but if he was good he would probably get a sucker...which he did and he picked pink.

We went to the doctor and he is fine. BUT, you would honestly think that he is barely hanging on. He has been talking in the whiny "poor me" voice since we got home, he can't eat with his hands because he has an owie, just everything.

Poor baby has a hurt carrot, I'm pregnant and exhausted (and very happy), and Ryan is out of town. SO, what to do?

We ate spaghetti for dinner (leftovers)...
Put our PJ's on without taking a bath...
We are watching Air Buddies...
and then we are going to bed!

I'm so excited...Hagen gets a bath pretty much every night, so I figured that he can miss one...I'm feeling a bit lazy so this is the perfect night to do so! I told him we are having special movie night (while I am sitting here blogging).

Please say a prayer that his finger doesn't fall off in his sleep...from the sound of it he may lose it.

Tata,
Carrie

P.S. His glove of "cool" water is now almost hot and he is STILL walking around with it on his finger. Mind you he is holding it with a grip WITH his hurt finger.

P.S.S. I took another test this morning to make sure I was in fact Prego. I kept getting asked how many tests I took....when I would say 1 I would get an "OK, well do you have another one you can take?" To put my mind and some other's minds at ease I took another one. We are all good...still "yes".

I cannot concentrate...

...AT.ALL.

I have so many questions and am so excited!
- what is it?
- how is Hagen going to react?
- how many are in there?
- am I going to have morning sickness?
- can I control my eating early on unlike last time?
- What is it?
- WHAT IS IT?

OK, I'm dying to know what it is! Growing up I have always wanted two boys. But as we were having trouble conceiving I was just wanting a healthy baby. When we found out I was having a boy I was so excited but was also kind of sad it wasn't a girl. Now do not read this wrong, I was very happy Hagen was a boy...I just...I guess wanted both?! I know most of you have no idea what I am trying to say.

Now this time I am again excited for either one! It would be so neat to have a little girl and experience that side of things. I have such a loving relationship with my Mom and to have that with a little girl would be wonderful. But I would love having another little boy! You can still have that loving relationship with your Mom like my little brother...the one that is still attached at the cord.

I just turned 35 last month, so I wonder if I will have to do all those tests? I mean, I will do the tests at 12 weeks to determine if there is anything going on that I would want to prepare myself with and will still do. But what about Amnio's? Not sure how I feel about that...

Wow, is this all really happening? I am so excited. We did it...we did this on our own this time...

I can't wait to see Hagen meet the new little...I just tear up thinking about it!

I think we are going to wait to tell him when we find out what it is. That way we can tell him he is having a baby sister/brother.

My cup runneth over...and my bladder also...

Great weekend!

Friday night we had Nana and Papa Tom over for dinner! I made shrimp creole and it was SO good! It had been awhile since we had gotten together and we had a great time!

On Saturday I got a pedicure (much needed) and then helped Ryan pull weeds (actual weeds this time) in the yard. Hagen and Ryan mulched. It was so pretty outside and had me dreaming of the summer...so over the winter!

My parents and Adam's family came over and we grilled out steaks, had roasted potato's (Dad's favorite), cheese grits (Mom's favorite), and salad. So.Good. My Dad can grill some serious steaks.

The boys had a blast running around the yard, playing, eating, watching Cars, ate cream puffs that Papa bought them (what a royal mess...but cute), and just hanging out.

I was on pins and needles all day because it was day 28 which is when I start if not before. Ryan and I didn't want to possibly ruin the night by seeing a negative test result. So I had a few beers and just tried to relax all the time thinking that I could be pregnant.

On Sunday morning I went to Sonic to get my tea and Hagen a Jr. burrito and headed to CVS.

I'll cut to the chase...WE.ARE.PREGNANT! Oh my gosh..I still can't believe it. I am OVER the moon excited. I calculated the due date and it is around November 14th.

We tried something different this past month. I talked to my cousin at a wedding last month and she mentioned that she ovulates early. So we tried to start the every other day marathon early...as in day 12. I'm not sure if that was why it worked, but I believe it was the trick!

I'm off to eat raw cookie dough that I made yesterday. I'm also going to just sit here and dream of another little Hagen arriving soon. Mama is going to be looking HOT in a bikini this summer!

Elated,
Carrie

Maybe he can see into the future?!? Maybe?

My sister-in-law is doing good! The baby is just small and going to be around 6 pounds at birth. She is growing which is the good thing!

We keep talking about how Noah is going to be a big brother and that Aunt Rebecca has a baby girl in her belly...Noah's baby sister.

Hagen is very curious about it lately. Yesterday morning when I woke him up for school he had his bear in his PJ top. Weird...but didn't think much of it. When I picked him up from school yesterday one of the teachers came up to me and said that bear was in his shirt after nap time and they asked him why it was there. Hagen said that is was his baby sister in his belly.

Aww...he was acting like HE was having a baby sister. So cute...

It just makes me want to have a baby even more to see how excited he is. I just couldn't imagine not having another one. He loves babies! We say bye to the babies when we leave school and he just smiles and smiles at them.

BUT...

I'm not sure how he is really going to like someone bugging him when he gets older. I mean, last night he came in from outside to tell me that "Dapper bonked his body" which means Dapper touched him. GASP...what to do?! Dapper is always up in Hagen's business and it ticks Hagen off to NO.END. They are at the same eye level as each other. That would get on my nerves too!

Tata,
Carrie

P.S. I am praying HARD today for a sweet friend that will find out today if the 2 eggs that were implanted have stuck...she will find out at 5:00. I hope and pray for them that this is their time!!

I'm a weenie

Yep, so I took myself to the doctor after work and just KNEW I had gotten strep from my little man. They gave me a strep test and the damn thing was negative! I left there with a prescription for a Z-Pack just in case I wasn't feeling better by tomorrow.

He told me to do Zyrtec and Nasacort...so it is just allergies! I have not had allergies most of my life, but in the past few years I have developed them. I got myself a Netti Pot and swished out my sinuses...I think it actually worked!

I went to pick up Hagen from school and told him that Mama was icky sicky and we need to go get medicine. Whenever we go to the store he wants (and usually gets) candy. Here was the conversation in the car before we went into CVS:
Hagen: Mama, is there going to be candy there?
Me: Yes Hagen but we are getting medicine for Mama
Hagen: Can I have some candy Mama?
Me: No candy today Hagen

We went into the store and he was holding my hand. We gathered our things and went to pay. Not sure if you have noticed but at CVS the whole wall beneath the cashier is CANDY HEAVEN! Hagen just stood there STARING at all the candy. He didn't touch, whine, reach, ask or anything! I paid for our things and we left...just like that!

I got him in the car and told him I was so proud of him for listening to Mama and being such a big boy and followed it up with thank you. He said "your welcome Mama". I got in my seat and reached in the glove box and got him out some tic tacs and gave him 3...he was so happy.

When we got home he asked me what was in my mouth and I said Bubble Gum. He said back to me, "Gubble Gum?" Cute boy...

Hagenisms

There are a few new things going on in the Darney Household that I thought I would share.

Hagen now gets a stamp on his hand for doing morning chores. Now, they are not hard chores by any means, but it is helping me out a lot! Here they are:
1. Takes off his PJ’s
2. Takes off his diaper
3. Puts diaper in trash and PJ’s in laundry basket
4. Puts his breakfast bowl and sippy of milk in the sink when he is done

It is not much, but we are getting there!
***
Another thing he has started doing is helping set the table for dinner. He puts a napkin at everyone’s place and also puts a fork/spoon on the napkin. I’m hoping he will start to actually cook the meal soon as that would be so helpful, but we’ll start with just setting the table.
***
Hagen called me a bad name for the first time the other day. He told me I was a poopie. I just stared at him trying to stifle my laughter in and told him that if he ever said that to ANYONE again he would be in big trouble! Not nice Hagen (funny) but not nice!
***
At nighttime Hagen picks out his PJ’s and his night night diaper. He sets them out ready for when he emerges from his bath. He also puts his Aquifor, vitamins, and lotion all lined up ready to use. It is so cute watching him scramble to get everything all ready. You can actually see his mind going through the mental list in his head. After he puts his dirty clothes in the hamper he goes and picks out his socks and underwear for the next day and sets them in his rocker.
***
A new addition to the routine is that he now picks out MY PJ’s too. I have them stacked in a shelf in my closet. Last night he picked out the polka dots. Really all I have to do is pick out what I want to wear and put them on the lowest shelf on top of the pile and that’s what he will pick out.
***
When we put him to bed now and close the door, you hear, “Mom…Mom…Mom” or if Ryan puts him to bed, “Dad…Dad…Dad”. He doesn’t need anything, it is just a stall tactic. It’s just funny to hear him say Mom or Dad over and over because he doesn’t call us that…It’s Mama or Daddy.
***
One last thing is that Hagen is starting to wake up earlier and earlier. It is now 7:00…it use to be 8:00. He wakes up very thirsty and sits in his bed saying, “I want some Wa…Ter. I want some Wa…Ter” with a long pause between the Wa and the Ter.

Anyway, sorry for the ramblings. I just wanted to remember some things about that sweet baby.

Carrie

Weekend Wrap-up!

Well, Hagen decided to go get himself Strep, so I was home with him on Thursday and Friday. Poor baby was so sick and wasn’t eating at all! Lots of snuggles and TV. He lost weight and is now 25 pounds 6 ounces. When I took him to the doctor on Wednesday night he was running around like a maniac! I told the nurse I swear he is sick…not sure why he is running around like he is. She took his temperature and sure enough it was 102.6.

This weekend we relaxed a lot. I had to go to a baby shower on Saturday morning and got my baby fix. I held a 3 month old little girl for about 1 ½ hours! She was the daughter of the girl that was hosting the shower so it helped her out and I loved it! Aww…she was so sweet…AND her name was Caroline! Beautiful little girl.

We did yard work and cooked out. My brother and his family came over and we cooked out fajitas and had a great time! Noah and Hagen are now fighting like brothers. That’s Mine! NO, it’s Mine! No No Noah, it’s Mine. No, It’s MINE! Over and over again. They will sit on the toy and just stare at the other one melt down. It is cute and funny but man, it’s going to get ugly!!

Now, with the gardening, I obviously have a lot to learn because I picked all the “weeds” in the front beds. Ryan finally checked out my “weed” pile and said that I had pulled up all the flowers that were making a comeback this year. Oops, sorry honey. While I was pulling up all our new flowers, Hagen was hiding all his chalk in the bushes…then he would get it out…then throw it back in…the get it out. I think Ryan is rethinking this cleaning lady thing as I have more time to help in the yard!

That’s about all we did this weekend.

Carrie
