Easter Bunny from years past

We went to see the Easter Bunny last night! This was of course Hazel's first time and the first year that Hagen was SO excited!! We met Ryan at his office and then headed to the mall... I told Hagen he needed to be brave so that Hazel would not be scared. No need to tell him that he already knew. He approached the EB with confidence and gave him a high five! So proud! This was him last year and he was not crying but a bit unsure of the big guy.
The year before that was a total disaster. We went to breakfast with the EB and Hagen was terrified! No bueno that year!
And then one of my favorites. Hagen was about 1 and he loved the EB...so sweet...love him!
We went to dinner at California Pizza Kitchen afterwards where Hazel had the biggest meltdown ever so I had to leave with her while the boys ate and then left. She fell asleep in her stroller so I decided to go shopping and got myself some boyfriend jeans...love them!

Pork Chops and painted piggies

So we have been talking with Hagen alot about safety. One thing that we love is that we can take a shower or whatever and not have to worry about Hagen. He is out of the into everything stage and is not into the sneaky stage (yet). But one thing I do worry about is if the door bell rings. So we have been playing "what if". Basically he is told to not open the door EVER. He is to come get me or Ryan and we will open it with him. Even if it is Nana or someone he knows we go get Mom or Dad because "It may be someone that LOOKS like Nana, but be a bad person". So we went through a billion scenarios, "what if buzz light year comes to the door?" "What if Ms. Laura your teacher rings the bell?" "What if Papa and Pia come and say, it's OK Hagen...you can open the door?" No matter what, you come get us. He got it! Passed all his tests! He even told us, "If you and Daddy are outside eating pork chops and I am inside eating my pork chop and someone knocks, I come get you and you will put your pork chop down and help me get the door!" Yes son...or chicken or ribs or hot dogs...or tequila. Onto another cutie pie...I got this completely impractical outfit for Hazel...she looks like a baby flapper complete with painted toes and a flower on her head! I usually do a little bow and am not much for the gigantic bows and headbands, but it just had to go with this cute ditty.
I think she likes it!! She is spending the day with Pia today. She has a random high fever but nothing else is wrong. Took her to the doctor last night and deiced to keep her out of school today. She had no fever this morning. She is teething like crazy. So sad for babies that teethe...sounds so painful!

Pictures of the rug rats

I don't seem to have any content for my blog lately...so I'll just put some photos up of the darlings! Below is Noah and Hagen playing in the "river" at Water's Creek...they LOVE it and will behave during dinner with the idea that they can do this afterwards if they are good! This is an attempt at getting a cousin shot...they are darling...
The men...big brothers if you will. They both take their job very seriously and love their babies!
Miss serious...hardly cracks a smile...BUT...
Aunt Rebecca caught it on tape! Aww...sweet baby. She had already pulled the bow out this evening before dinner. Sweet Baby Hazel Grace!!

Baby Mine...sorry kinda sappy...Hagen loving on Hazel

Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part, baby of mine
Little one when you play
Don't you mind what you say
Let those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear, baby of mine If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you
What they'd give just for
The right to hold you
From your head to your toes
You're not much, goodness knows
But you're so precious to me
Cute as can be, baby of mine

Love,
Mama

Friday nights lately and catching up!

I'm alive! OK, sorry about the absence...I've really had nothing exciting to announce! There are a few things though. Hazel is blowing bubbles and blowing raspberries like crazy! She is constantly drooling and spitting. Hagen thinks it is pretty funny! She LOVES LOVES LOVES her exersaucer! I Love it too because it is another set of "arms" to hold the little priss.

I attempted to paint her toenails this morning. It was 60 second nail polish in a bright pink...let's just say it is NOT dry in 60 seconds. Hagen still thinks she is the most beautiful thing and he really likes her. He wants to hold her and play with her in the mornings before school while I pack bottles, lunches, etc. It is nice that the love is mutual...for now.

This is a photo of my darling niece Emily and Hazel. It was St. Patrick's Day and the kids and I ate at their house. Ryan was out of town. Hazel is SO serious! She rarely smiles...but she is really cute when she does! Just very hard to catch on camera One Saturday I took the kids to an indoor water thing at the Gym in Frisco. It was so fun! I got to put Hazel in a suit for the first time! Below is my fabulous brother Adam loving on Hazel...(By the way my other butt hole brother is 38 today...wonder how long this craziness is going to last). I love capturing the love on camera. He loves my babies and I love his like they are our own.
Here is the latest cousin shot. It is getting quite difficult! AND Hagen would not change from his superman t-shirt (why did I buy that ugly thing) and sweats for ANYTHING! Everyone else is dresses all cute and he looks homeless...

See how serious she is??? So cute though! Hagen is not doing soccer this go around...he opted for gymnastics! It is hilarious to see what he learned after school...he may be a bit clumsy like his Mama. Speaking of clumsy, Ryan was showing off last night in the back yard (to Hagen) and was doing some fancy soccer moves. Well, I just happened to look when he tripped and fell flat on his butt! It was priceless...and he looked around to see if anyone saw and I was dying laughing...his head hung in shame for a bit.

My brother's family, my parents, and my family have been getting together on Friday nights for dinner. It's really nice to make sure we are seeing each other more often. Since the weather has been nice we have been going to an area called Watter's Creek and eating at one of the restaurants and then heading down by the river and laying blankets out and letting the kids run around. It is SO cute there at night! White lights in the trees, live music, etc...just fun. I think we are building lots of memories there. Below is a picture of Hazel and I last week at Watter's Creek...

Work is going great...still love it here. Ryan is only traveling 1 week and then home for 2 so it is better. I swear if you marriage is in trouble or you are just having a rough spot...one of you get away for a week. It will make you realize how much you want them there. After he gets home on Saturdays we hang on the porch and drink a few beers and just talk and talk and talk. Love him so much...
I've been hitting the gym...don't faint...AND, I'm enjoying it! I have 3 rotations I do...Upper body and cardio, Lower body and cardio, and then abs and cardio. I just rotate those. I do need some help with Abs...what do you do when you HAVE no abs??

Hazel Grace is 4 months old!

I took Miss Hazel to the doctor yesterdya for her 4 month checkup. She put on her act of being strong on her legs, rolled over, and reached the sky while on her tummy. The doctor said she is a strong little thing!

She weighed 11 pounds 13 ounces, was 25 inches tall, and her head was whatever (I forgot). She is perfect! Long and lean. She is 75% in height and 10-25% in weight. Hagen weighed 1 pound more than her when he was 4 months.

The doctor said her head is not bad and to not worry about it since she is going to be doing the exersaucer and all that. It's so hard to keep babies off their backs but now that she is getting stronger it should correct itself.

She got 2 shots and she is struggling with them. She was really fussy and I knew the shot spots hurt. She got her first dose of Tylenol last night. Ryan and I had her sleep with us from midnight on. I didn't feed her until 4:30 this morning. I am going to top her off before I go to bed and then not feed her if she wakes up until 4-5 in the morning. Doctor said she should not have to wake up multiple times to eat and she is gaining weight good so not to worry...let her cry.

ALSO we started cereal! Not much...she said a little rice cereal for practice with an off chance she could sleep more is not bad. So we tried last night. She is not a fan but we will continue to try at dinner time!

When I took the kids to school this morning Hagen made sure to tell the teacher to be careful with her legs because she got shots and they hurt...so sweet...made me proud how he protected her...hope it lasts...

Word...

Just a few random tidbits!

Life in the Darney household is going great! Hazel has made the transition to her own room. I moved all her clothes, etc. up there which freed up a lot of room for us in our closet. She is doing good going to bed between 6:00 – 6:30 and then waking up once or twice a night to eat. I think she likes it up there!

Tell you what, dressing little girls is hard! I have all these cute bows, shoes, etc. but most of the time I end up not using them because they don’t stay on. I wish some would stay on longer because it is so cute!!

She has been chewing on her hand a lot lately. She is 4 months old so I’m sure she is teething. She has also started to grab things. Namely my hair and behind my arm on my triceps (or where one should be). It HURTS!!

I love going to get her in the night when she is hungry because most of the time she is awake and smiling and so happy. BUT it is also not good because she is kinda awake for the day around 5:00. I DO NOT get up that early and make her lay next to me until at least 6:30 when the alarm goes off. We will see how long that lasts!

I’m just in love with both kids right now. Hagen has really been doing well with her. He loves her, asks to snuggle with her while watching TV, helps her flip over, pats her head, tells her to drink all her milk and play nicely with friends when he takes her to her class, likes for me to bring her to his room so he can show her off to his friends, and still lovingly calls her “tooter bean”…I hope that one doesn’t stick.

Hagen went to Home Depot with Ryan the other day and got air filters. He asked why we need air filters and Ryan said “It cleans the air”…Hagen said “It cleans tooty air?!” He was laughing at himself and so proud…silly boy.

Hagen is into a burping phase. Making them as loud as he can. Good thing is he says excuse me every time, but it is getting old. Doesn’t help that his father (and mother) do it often.

I love Hazel, but she has made my butt disappear. You see, I have always had a butt…a big butt. Since I had Hazel it has disappeared! Honestly, gone! So I started back at the gym this week. I am going for an hour before I pick up the kids. It is RIGHT next door to the day care…shares a parking lot…so I have no excuse. I will concentrate on ½ cardio and then ½ on upper body, lower body, or abs. Today is abs…those are also gone so it will be fun!!

Cute love story? Hagen has a new girlfriend named Danni. She has 2 pony tails. Well Hagen was having a hard time with drop off the other day and didn’t want me to leave. Danni came up and said “I missed you yesterday!” (She was out sick) and then she said, “I have some dinosaurs for you” and took him to the dinosaur center and showed him the two piles of dinosaurs…one for her and one for him…he never did come say bye to me.

Hagen has been doing soccer at school. The season ended and he wants to try gymnastics. I let him choose between the two and explained to him that when his friends go to soccer he will not…but he will go with other friends to gymnastics. Next week is the first week…we’ll see how he does!

That’s all I got! Except if Ryan doesn’t wash his hardboiled egg yolks and the shells down the sink in the morning I am going to go ballistic!! I mean how hard is it to just run the water and wash that stuff down? I warned him with a brief call this morning…told him it was equally as irritating as him making a shake in the morning and leaving the powder residue stuck to the bottom of the cup and not washing it out…it turns into cement that the dishwasher can’t even tackle….but he’s pretty cute so I don’t leave him.
