Maybe he can see into the future?!? Maybe?

My sister-in-law is doing good! The baby is just small and going to be around 6 pounds at birth. She is growing which is the good thing!

We keep talking about how Noah is going to be a big brother and that Aunt Rebecca has a baby girl in her belly...Noah's baby sister.

Hagen is very curious about it lately. Yesterday morning when I woke him up for school he had his bear in his PJ top. Weird...but didn't think much of it. When I picked him up from school yesterday one of the teachers came up to me and said that bear was in his shirt after nap time and they asked him why it was there. Hagen said that is was his baby sister in his belly.

Aww...he was acting like HE was having a baby sister. So cute...

It just makes me want to have a baby even more to see how excited he is. I just couldn't imagine not having another one. He loves babies! We say bye to the babies when we leave school and he just smiles and smiles at them.

BUT...

I'm not sure how he is really going to like someone bugging him when he gets older. I mean, last night he came in from outside to tell me that "Dapper bonked his body" which means Dapper touched him. GASP...what to do?! Dapper is always up in Hagen's business and it ticks Hagen off to NO.END. They are at the same eye level as each other. That would get on my nerves too!

Carrie

P.S. I am praying HARD today for a sweet friend that will find out today if the 2 eggs that were implanted have stuck...she will find out at 5:00. I hope and pray for them that this is their time!!

I'm a weenie

Yep, so I took myself to the doctor after work and just KNEW I had gotten strep from my little man. They gave me a strep test and the damn thing was negative! I left there with a prescription for a Z-Pack just in case I wasn't feeling better by tomorrow.

He told me to do Zyrtec and Nasacort...so it is just allergies! I have not had allergies most of my life, but in the past few years I have developed them. I got myself a Netti Pot and swished out my sinuses...I think it actually worked!

I went to pick up Hagen from school and told him that Mama was icky sicky and we need to go get medicine. Whenever we go to the store he wants (and usually gets) candy. Here was the conversation in the car before we went into CVS:
Hagen: Mama, is there going to be candy there?
Me: Yes Hagen but we are getting medicine for Mama
Hagen: Can I have some candy Mama?
Me: No candy today Hagen

We went into the store and he was holding my hand. We gathered our things and went to pay. Not sure if you have noticed but at CVS the whole wall beneath the cashier is CANDY HEAVEN! Hagen just stood there STARING at all the candy. He didn't touch, whine, reach, ask or anything! I paid for our things and we left...just like that!

I got him in the car and told him I was so proud of him for listening to Mama and being such a big boy and followed it up with thank you. He said "your welcome Mama". I got in my seat and reached in the glove box and got him out some tic tacs and gave him 3...he was so happy.

When we got home he asked me what was in my mouth and I said Bubble Gum. He said back to me, "Gubble Gum?" Cute boy...

Hagenisms

There are a few new things going on in the Darney Household that I thought I would share.

Hagen now gets a stamp on his hand for doing morning chores. Now, they are not hard chores by any means, but it is helping me out a lot! Here they are:
1. Takes off his PJ’s
2. Takes off his diaper
3. Puts diaper in trash and PJ’s in laundry basket
4. Puts his breakfast bowl and sippy of milk in the sink when he is done

It is not much, but we are getting there!
***
Another thing he has started doing is helping set the table for dinner. He puts a napkin at everyone’s place and also puts a fork/spoon on the napkin. I’m hoping he will start to actually cook the meal soon as that would be so helpful, but we’ll start with just setting the table.
***
Hagen called me a bad name for the first time the other day. He told me I was a poopie. I just stared at him trying to stifle my laughter in and told him that if he ever said that to ANYONE again he would be in big trouble! Not nice Hagen (funny) but not nice!
***
At nighttime Hagen picks out his PJ’s and his night night diaper. He sets them out ready for when he emerges from his bath. He also puts his Aquifor, vitamins, and lotion all lined up ready to use. It is so cute watching him scramble to get everything all ready. You can actually see his mind going through the mental list in his head. After he puts his dirty clothes in the hamper he goes and picks out his socks and underwear for the next day and sets them in his rocker.
***
A new addition to the routine is that he now picks out MY PJ’s too. I have them stacked in a shelf in my closet. Last night he picked out the polka dots. Really all I have to do is pick out what I want to wear and put them on the lowest shelf on top of the pile and that’s what he will pick out.
***
When we put him to bed now and close the door, you hear, “Mom…Mom…Mom” or if Ryan puts him to bed, “Dad…Dad…Dad”. He doesn’t need anything, it is just a stall tactic. It’s just funny to hear him say Mom or Dad over and over because he doesn’t call us that…It’s Mama or Daddy.
***
One last thing is that Hagen is starting to wake up earlier and earlier. It is now 7:00…it use to be 8:00. He wakes up very thirsty and sits in his bed saying, “I want some Wa…Ter. I want some Wa…Ter” with a long pause between the Wa and the Ter.

Anyway, sorry for the ramblings. I just wanted to remember some things about that sweet baby.

Weekend Wrap-up!

Well, Hagen decided to go get himself Strep, so I was home with him on Thursday and Friday. Poor baby was so sick and wasn’t eating at all! Lots of snuggles and TV. He lost weight and is now 25 pounds 6 ounces. When I took him to the doctor on Wednesday night he was running around like a maniac! I told the nurse I swear he is sick…not sure why he is running around like he is. She took his temperature and sure enough it was 102.6.

This weekend we relaxed a lot. I had to go to a baby shower on Saturday morning and got my baby fix. I held a 3 month old little girl for about 1 ½ hours! She was the daughter of the girl that was hosting the shower so it helped her out and I loved it! Aww…she was so sweet…AND her name was Caroline! Beautiful little girl.

We did yard work and cooked out. My brother and his family came over and we cooked out fajitas and had a great time! Noah and Hagen are now fighting like brothers. That’s Mine! NO, it’s Mine! No No Noah, it’s Mine. No, It’s MINE! Over and over again. They will sit on the toy and just stare at the other one melt down. It is cute and funny but man, it’s going to get ugly!!

Now, with the gardening, I obviously have a lot to learn because I picked all the “weeds” in the front beds. Ryan finally checked out my “weed” pile and said that I had pulled up all the flowers that were making a comeback this year. Oops, sorry honey. While I was pulling up all our new flowers, Hagen was hiding all his chalk in the bushes…then he would get it out…then throw it back in…the get it out. I think Ryan is rethinking this cleaning lady thing as I have more time to help in the yard!

That’s about all we did this weekend.

Happy Birthday to me!

I'm 35! Yesterday was my birthday. I tell you what, Facebook can really make you feel special on your birthday! Loved hearing from people I don't talk to often or haven't since grade school!

A co-worker of mine took me to Mi Cocina and then picked me up desert at La Madeline!

I left a bit early because I got a call from Hagen's school saying that he didn't have much of a temperature, but he woke up from his nap and was shivering and saying he was cold. He has been very calm so we knew he was trying to get sick.

I went to pick him up and he was in the sick room laying down with bear and blanket and his cheeks were so red. Poor baby.

I had dinner in the crock pot so that was covered and Rebecca my sister-in-law made me cupcakes!

We ate dinner and had a cupcake and then it was off to the doctor. Hagen was so cute...running around like he was just fine (isn't that how it always is), introducing himself (of course with his full name), stood still on the scale (he lost weight and is now at 25.6 pounds), and had a fever of 102.6! They did a flu test and strep...strep was positive, so he is now on antibiotics and we are home today.

Poor baby is just curled up on the couch sipping on his milk. The cleaning people are coming today around noon and I don't want to be here. I think we are going to go see The Chipmonks movie again. He is not contagious anymore...the doctor said after his dose this morning he is good to go back to school. I am not one of those Mom's that takes their kids to school quickly, but the movies? Sure...especially since it has been out for awhile and we may be the only ones in the theatre.

Here lies another reason I miss Mom. She is so great at keeping the beast when he is sick. Often times getting sick herself, but today would have been a good day for him to stay with her.

I am also a hypochondriac so I don't feel so hot today...achy and I think my throat hurts. Honestly if he had a cut on his leg I would start feeling like my leg hurts. I'm a baby!

Hagen was so sweet when Ryan put him to bed last night. Before he went upstairs to read he came to me and said Happy Birthday Mama in the sweetest "I don't feel good" voice ever. Melted my heart.

But the night was not good...up every hour crying, just not feeling good...coughing and sniffling. He must have heard Ryan get up this morning and leave because it was 5:45 and he was up for the day! I told him it was still dark out and still nighttime and he was not having it. I told him he could lay in bed with me till mornign. So he laid there kicking, flipping, everything BUT sleeping...we got out of bed at 7:15... I have a friend that has two little boys that are up for the day at 5:30 most mornings...I feel her pain...terrible!

Presenting: Hagen James Darney at his finest!

The first video is of (sorry) what he found in the potty the other night. Again, so sorry...but it's funny!

This one is Hagen saying he has a fever and showing us where it is. Listen to him trying to say temperature...

Here is Hagen's singing debut...it is Big Green Tractor...but it starts out as You are my sunshine for a small bit...

Enjoy,

Carrie

Mom, come home!

OK, so I am one of those people that talk to my Mom at LEAST 2 times a day. I have for years. Not only do I but my little brother Adam does too. Adam is actually still attached by the umbilical cord and visits a few times on the weekend also.

Mom and Dad are on a cruise in the Caribbean with some family/friends. They left on Saturday morning and will not be back until Saturday. I'm sure it will be a fight between Adam and I on Saturday at who will talk to Mom and Dad first.

Being a recruiter makes me loathe the phone...but I will drop every thing to call Mom and tell her anything...and I really do mean anything!

The thing with Mom is that she will never ignore the phone calls like I do. Even when she knows that I can be Debbie downer at times she just listens to me. Sometimes she puts her $.02 in but mostly just listens...or does she?! I have caught her a few times after I ask her a question say, "well, I'm just doing laundry" or "your Dad is going to work late tonight" or whatever so I know that sometimes she just shuts me out. BUT, for the most part she listens.

Come home Mom...I have absolutely nothing to talk about and have no one to tell!

Tata,
Carrie

P.S. Last night we had corn "cwern" again and so tonight Hagen found something in the potty. He was showing Ryan what a big dump it was and said, "LOOK Daddy! There's cwern in my poo poo!" GROSS! I'm not sure if you know this but I am a recent corn eater. I have not really ever liked it, but I think this may get me to not eat it again after that! After he showed Ryan he had to come have me look...thanks Hagen...I'm so proud (and grossed out!)
