Happy Birthday Dad!

Today is my Dad's birthday! He is 61 today. We were planning on having a family dinner, but he had to go out on a well yesterday so we celebrated without him. Happy Birthday Dad! You are the best ever and I am so proud of you! Cheers to many more!

I will now change the subject and quote the movie Ice Age when the dinosaur says "My stomach HATTTEEEEESSSS me!". I have had a steady diet of sugar and cream cheese for a few weeks now and I have GOT to stop! My stomach is so messed up...I'm dying...it is miserable.

Tonight I am throwing away any dip, leftovers, cookies, chocolate, etc that is left in the fridge. I've had enough...I'm so sick of it all!

Hagen has become Mr. Sensitive. He gets his feeling hurt so bad! If he does something and we tell him it is not right or to stop he pouts and starts hitting himself. It isn't like a bratty pout...it is more like a "you really hurt my feelings" pout. We can totally tell a difference. Tonight while we were at Adam's house for dinner he was playing with a dinosaur flashlight and he whipped around fast and bonked Noah in the head. Noah stood there still for a minute and then realized that it did indeed hurt and started crying. Hagen was just standing there looking at him and then started crying too. He felt bad...I could tell. I was telling him that it was an accident and we needed to say sorry. He didn't want to...but then he just changed his mind, hugged Noah and said sorry. Atta Boy Hagen.

Boring post...sorry...

Why haven't we done this more often or at all?

My brother and sister in law live about 2 miles from us. They have a little boy Noah that is 1 year younger and Hagen and Noah play so well together!

We have never babysat for each other! Why? Mainly because we are both so boring...we don't get out much...it's not in the budget, but mainly because we are homebodies.

Today I was talking with Ryan and we decided that we would offer to watch Noah for a few hours so that they could go to a movie they have been wanting to see.

They brought Noah over around 4:30 and Hagen was still napping. I will tell you that it is the HAPPIEST Hagen has woken up from a nap in a long time! He is a grump at first when he wakes up...takes after Mama for sure. He had the BIGGEST smile on his face when he came downstairs! They played trucks, played in the backyard, played guitar, danced, ate dinner, took a bath, and ran them selves ragged by the time Adam and Rebecca came to get him at 8:00.

We had a blast and honestly, it was nice to have a playmate for Hagen over to entertain him. I sat back and waited for the optimal photo op and just enjoyed watching them have a good time.

Hagen was a bit bossy at times and we often heard "No sir Noah...that's not good".

At dinner Ryan wanted me to take a picture of Noah with a beer by his plate. I was not aware of the beer being OPEN until Noah grabbed it for a drink. It spilled down his shirt. "Adam, sorry about the smell of stale beer on your kids shirt...we weren't watching them and they got in the fridge. We'll watch better next time!"

During bath time it was another story. They were splashing up a storm! I tried to settle it down but soon gave up. Noah is on Antibiotics and it messes with his stomach if you know what I mean. I had put a yellow and red color tablet in the water so it looked a bit orange. BAD MOVE.

Ryan and I were bathing the kids and letting them play and then Ryan noticed little bits in the water...not much but we knew right away what it was...reah! Ugh! GROSS!!

Ryan hopped in the shower and I threw both boys in with him. It was hilarious watching him try to juggle 2 slippery toddlers in our small shower.

So again to Adam: If your kid gets parvo it is from his own body...or hand/foot/mouth...or fecal poisoning...your kids fault.

They paid us with a piece of red velvet cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory. That's all I needed...and a good photo which you can see I got.

Nite nite,
Carrie

Getting things back to normal around here!

It is time to get this house back to order! I don't really have all THAT much to decorate with so it doesn't take me too long to take it down. Hagen has been asking "are you taking down the holidays?" or "Are you cleaning the holidays?" and "Where the holidays go?".

Ryan was taking down the lights outside and Hagen was helping (that means he was standing on the cast iron chair on our porch ringing the door bell over and over and over. Lovely. The funny thing is that when Hagen and Ryan are doing work outside the first thing Hagen does is get Ryan a beer and get himself a water or a juice box. Even if they just let Dapper out real quick and are coming right back in Hagen goes to get their refreshments!

Speaking of refreshments, Hagen and his ladies that we hung out for New Year's Eve were enjoying some Sparking Cider. It was funny to hear all the kids ask for more BEER. They thought it was beer. How white trash can we get! Hagen...just like his Mama.

If Dapper doesn't stop licking my carpet I'm going to poke him in the eyeball. I'm not sure if there is some leftover Christmas goodness in the carpet or what but he is DRIVING ME NUTS. Yesterday Hagen said, "Dapper Doo...stop licking the carpick!"

One last thing...Hagen is officially moving out of his toddler bed on Wednesday. Yesterday Papa met me to pick out his bed. I'm kinda sad that he is moving up, but so excited too! I got some vintage cowboy sheets when he was less than a year old because I LOVED them. So for his bed I got a black bed, a trundle that is like a drawer, and a nightstand. I found a fleecy red blanket for his bed and ordered a darker denim comforter thing...but it isn't as thick as a comforter...more like a coverlet.

It will be so cute and I will post a picture of his first night in his big bed! He has been in his toddler bed for about a year and still doesn't get out of it. He just yells and screams for us to come save him. I'm shocked that he doesn't get out...he's a pretty smart little boy and I am kinda worried that he hasn't figured this one out yet.

I promise, ONE more thing...Hagen and his whining is just about to do me in. I've had it. BUT, we have found a trick. He goes to the "crying or whining room" and is free to come out whenever he is done! If he is crying or whining we say, "go to the CW room and just come out when you are ready to not C or W anymore!" He trots off to our bedroom and comes trotting back out withing a minute or so. He has spent alot of time in there lately. I swear he sounds like a little girl the way he whines!

We are off to a great start here in the Darney Hizzy...nice to have such a long weekend with New Year's Day being on a Friday!

Happy New Year!

We started the day with both Ryan and I having to go into our offices for a 1/2 day. I was planning on taking the day off, but we are so busy so I went in for a few hours. It was very productive and quiet so well worth the trip.

We decided instead of doing nothing (we are kind of on the boring side when it comes to partying) we would invite a few couples over with the kids for a nice home cooked meal and some beverages.

Tommy and Jacki came over with their little girls Tori and Katy. They were here from about 5:00 till 8:00. We had some meatballs, mashed potatoes, and some veggies, dips, and then some desert...very laid back and simple. What was NOT simple is the disaster area that the toys became! Every part of Every toy was EVERYWHERE! They had a great time, but man was that a mess.

Tommy and Ryan did some poppers with the kiddos and Jacki and I enjoyed a drink and caught up.

I again have a new found respect for RSVP'ing. My brother and sister in law were invited, but totally understandable they backed out the day before...they are all sick. I appreciate people not coming over to spread their germs! Plus, I hadn't started cooking or even been to the store yet...not a big deal.

BUT...

We invited another family over and they would not give us a definite answer on if they were coming or not. It was almost as if they were waiting for a better offer. It was a difference between me making 1 or 2 batches of the dinner I was preparing. I sent a text and an email the night before to check and see because I was going to the store. Still no response until...2:30 yesterday saying they were coming and what can they bring AND they were leaving early because they had another place to go. Ugh...what? Were you raised in a barn?! Our shindig was starting around 4 or so and they knew this so that left me 1 1/2 hours to make more food for your family? I don't think so!

I called her back to say that we had canceled it all because we didn't know if they were coming or not. Told her that some of the other people were sick and backed out. Her response, "Well, I'm glad I'm not the reason for you to cancel!" Very inconsiderate. Still love their family to pieces...they have a little boy in Hagen's class and are SO cool to hang out with!

Anywho, our new years "theme" this year is budget and simplicity. We are going to get out of debt as far as our credit cards and we are going to get rid of stuff we are holding onto for NO reason whatsoever.

I am so thankful for everything in my life right now...my hubby who is such a hard worker, great Daddy, and wonderful husband....My baby boy Hagen who is testing his limits lately which he should be, talking so well, eats fairly good, and is very personable...My parents who are so fun to be around, easy to talk to, and so giving and loving to my family...My job that gives me the flexibility to be able to work while still being able to have a hot meal on the table for my boys...My house that is warm...My attic that I have all organized...My friends that are always there for me at the drop of a hat...just very thankful for everything!

In 2010 I hope to become pregnant, I hope to get out of debt, I hope to get a raise, I hope to continue to work on a pattern of working/cleaning/cooking/playing that works with our family, I hope to finally figure out what to put on my walls in my master bedroom...no, there is not one thing on our walls, and I hope to become a better wife and mother as well!

Cheers to a new year!

XO,
Carrie

Debbie Downer has left the building...

...I repeat, left the building. I'm back! I was so sad today...lonely at work, cold, after Christmas, etc.

I met my parents after work today to go get my present sized and walked out with an additional present. Then I went shopping for some cute clothes! Retail therapy really does work...I feel so much better! They even took me to lunch when I was looking homeless in my sweats and hat because my hair is 3 days dirty...yes, 3 days! Told you I was in the dumps!

THEN, Ryan was picking up little man from school so I took my time coming home.

THEN, I get home, put on some boots and a thick coat and my gloves and I met my boys outside and we played in the snow for a long time! We built a snowman (complete with carrot nose, Mr. Potato Head buck teeth, rock eyes, and twig arms), threw snowballs (I got Hagen in the face...totally on accident...he turned around at a bad time), made snow angels, etc.

I had a blast!

THEN, Ryan went to get sushi for dinner and I heated up anything that wasn't moldy in the fridge for Hagen. It was great!

Fire in the fireplace, hot chocolate, Dove Promises, and The Hangover on paperview...

I have a busy day tomorrow at work and am ready to tackle it...in my new duds...but not the best ones because no one will be there to tell me how cute I look.

SO SORRY about the venting this morning, I was being a brat/baby/whiney girl, but I had to.

AND, Hagen liked me today! I think the getting outside and playing did ALL of us some good. We needed to blow off some steam.

Tata,
Carrie

Depressed...

...do you guys ever just get depressed after Christmas? I mean, I know the year is not over but I just get sad when it is just GONE so fast!

Hagen still talks about Kirby our Elf on the Shelf. This morning he said "Kirby doesn't like to make toys..." What? Where the hell...wait...

You know the old Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer show on TV? The elf on there is named Kirby (now I know how I got the name). Kirby wants to be a dentist...not make toys.

So that is the Kirby that comes to our house...and Kirby is a SHE...

I think part of the depressed state is that I have to work this week. I have one of the partners barking orders at me through IM...while he is off enjoying the holidays with his family. NOW, don't get me wrong...I only work part-time so it is not that big of a deal AND we are doing really good so I need to hire more people so that is why I am working...

I just get so down after Christmas...

On other news, I am going to start shopping around for a twin bed for little man. I think it is time. I'm looking for a black or dark wood twin bed with a trundle that can be concealed WITHOUT using a bed skirt. I have vintage cowboy sheets...looking for a reddish burgundy bamboo blanket and a dark denim comforter...that's what I am doing...

Yeah! Big boy bed here we come!!

Still down though...I want a cheeseburger...stat...

"I wanna do it myself!"

Yes, it is that time in Hagen's childhood...the time that I have been dreading...it's come.

"I wanna do it myself!" is yelled to me a thousand times a day. This morning as I woke him up I started unzipping his PJ's "I wanna do it myself!" followed by a whine that just hurts my ears and then SLOWLY takes his PJ's off ONLY to find that the footie part is stuck on his foot. WHINE...

I go to take off soggy diaper "I wanna do it myself!" OK, then do it. Well, he can't find the sticky thing so I sneak in and help...busted and then he freaks the hell out!

Want Milk?
"I wanna do it myself!"

Want Mickey Mouse Clubhouse?
"I wanna do it myself!"

"I wanna do it myself!" "I wanna do it myself!" "I wanna do it myself!"

SO sick of those words.

But, it all goes away when I get the picture in my head of my naked cowboy playing his guitar...it is a back view with his buns on the ground sitting with his guitar in his lap singing "Big Green Tractor" and Rudolph...so precious!

He was back at school today and it was kinda sad taking him...only about 1/2 the kids were there. I am swamped at work and can't take off right now, so we will just have to move forward.

Boring post...sorry...

Carrie

P.S. My kid is SO constipated from eating a bunch of crap! He is tooting all day and it is TERRIBLE! WE were in Academy getting Ryan some stuff with his Christmas gift card and I asked Hagen, "did you toot?" He politely said OVER AND OVER "No, I didn't toot" for all to hear..."Mama, I didn't toot. Mom, I didn't toot. Mama...Hagen didn't toot". Casey, it reminded me of your video you posted!!
