Icky Sicky Darney's!

Whaaaa....I feel TERRIBLE! I've been coughing all week...nothing bad enough to go to the doctor though so I just decided to wait it out. Well last night before bed my throat was killing me and my nose stopped up. Ryan had just told me that a girl at his work has Mono so of course I started getting the same symptoms. I do that...if you break your toe mine hurts too. Sass, yes my butt hurts because you broke yours.

I went to the clinic this morning and he basically after I told them I am 6 months pregnant he pretty much wouldn't diagnose anythign...nothing...didn't even do a strep test. It was like he was afraid to give me something. While he was checking me out Hagen announced that he needed to go Poo Poo really bad...nice. by the way the reason I took him with me is because Ryan can mow and trim the bushes way faster without the master of disaster with him.

So I left with a couple of prescriptions that I MAY be able to fill out after I talk to my doctor. I called my OBGYN to make sure I could take them and was going to leave a message for the on call Dr. to call me...well the phone system is down....so I'm just waiting.

I also took Hagen back to the doctor. A little background, he had tubes put in 1 1/2 years ago...they worked their way out recently which is normal. He has been snotty and froggy throat all week. I took him again today to the doctor to make sure he isn't indeed sick. Well, he has an ear infection. I hope and pray that we are not on that road again. It was 3 months of back to back double ear infections!

So, Hagen and I are icky sicky...poor Ryan...I am reminding him how awful I feel every 10 minutes at least.

By the way, Ryan is trying to put Hagen's pants back on after him going to the potty and his thingy just hit Ryan's ear...Ryan is a bit creeped out.

Also, when I told Ryan I didn't feel good this morning and I was going to the doctor he told me, "Well, you've had a good run..." Thanks alot...he said I have had a good life so it's OK for me to let go. I'm so loved...

Chucky is the devil

So we went to a friend's son's birthday party last night at Chuck E. Hell...I despise it. Gattitown is a WHOLE different thing...love it there, but Not CEC.

The party was at 5:00 on a Wednesday...normally not good for the working parents, but you know...it was kinda nice! Not having to plan your weekend around a birthday party.

Hagen had a great time playing on all the rides, ate 3 pieces of pizza, and then the show started! AND Chucky came out. Hagen FREAKED! I was practically choking at how hard he had his arms wrapped around my neck.

There were some rough boys and we all know that Hagen is a bit more dainty...I was proud of myself holding back from protecting him. I'm really trying to work on it as Ryan and I have talked that I could be enabling the wimpy behavior...very true. now, I did watch closely and would have drop kicked one certain little hell raiser if he laid a finger on him. This kid sucker punched another little boy that was younger than him 2 times! FOR NO REASON! And the mother (whom I went to high school with) did nothing...wasn't even watching him at all...he was raising hell and she had no idea. OR did she? I've heard he is like that all the time and they just ignore it while other kids cry and bleed.

Hagen bought a lolly pop, a tootsie roll, and a glittery ring with his tickets (an me 2 airheads but he didn't know) and was so proud.

Another story: Hagen was learning about traveling this week at school. Yesterday they made some beaded bracelets! I was so happy when he handed it to me thinking he made it especially for me! Nope...he said it is for Daddy. I couldn't even hold it in the car. He did...to make sure I didn't take it. Then Ryan was tucking him in to bed last night and he said, "Daddy, you can sleep in your bracelet if you want to...and then give it to Mama in the morning when you wake up." So Ryan "left" the bracelet on the counter for me this morning to wear to work...

One little tidbit: Hagen is not a picky eater, but I am always wanting to throw in new things here and there. While we were in California Merrilee gave him a parfait of yogurt and granola. Hagen LOVED it. So in the morning he has been eating a huge bowl of vanilla yogurt with Granola...he is in heaven. Thanks for the tip Mer!!!

The Batchelorette...Hagen Vs. Logan

So, if I haven't told you, Juliette (you know...Hagen's girlfriend at school...the one I'm totally pushing on him...) has a cool Mom. She was a gymnast in France...was on the French Olympic team...and she was Nastia Liukin's coach! Well one of them at least. To hear her say Juliette in her french accent is beautiful...makes me love her name even more.

She moved here to the US about 6 years ago and is teaching gymnastics in Plano at Nastia's gym.

Anyway, just a little scoop about my son's future Mother in Law...she's the bomb.

She sent me a note on Facebook (what did we do before texting, email, facebook, etc.) saying that Juliette wanted Hagen and Logan to come over after school for a play date! I was texting the other mom asking her if she thought it was a drop off or stay and hang...we got the impression it was a drop off but of course wanted to make sure! So I was the sacrificial lamb and played dumb (because we all know I'm brilliant) and asked. She meant it as a drop off and for me and the Logan's mom to go rest...we are both pregnant. How sweet!

So at 5:00 Logan and Hagen were dropped off and then picked up at 6:30. They both did not want to leave...Hagen was crying and all! Hagen was SO excited to play with the African American "Twinkerbell", the sticker earrings, and the bracelets. You know he was in heaven! He started crying and saying he wanted to spend the night. I wonder if he will do that when he is a teenager...cry to me that he wants to spend the night at a girls house?! Let's hope not. Cecile kindly said, "I don't have to be at work until 9:00 so he is more than welcome to stay." So sweet...but no...I'm nice...I will not let you do that. He's been a monster lately!

So Hagen had a total blast! They played dolls, Doll house, golf, chased the cats, ate goldfish, played jewelry, and had such a good time!! AND they live in the neighborhood right across from ours! I can see the two of them being friends for a long time...at least I hope so.

25 weeks

Not the best picture...but just want to document the belly. I love pregnant bellies...not my own really, but others. I still look back at Hagen's pregnant belly and just love it! Of course my sidekick dumb shit is right there...poor dog...I have no more patience with him. I feel bad but can't help it!!

Hazel Grace Darney it is! I had some comments on if that is 100% the name and it is. With this more than likely being our last baby I would kick myself if I didn't use it. I have to thank Coco...she is the first person that told me I am crazy if I didn't use it...I never thought about it...I'm so glad she brought it up to me.

Operation break the stallion? Hmmm...not sure if it is going well or not. He has had about a gallon of sassy sauce and had time out as well. One time out was because he wanted to play play-doh. I told him not now and maybe we can later if he improves on his listening skills we can. He clinched up his fists and gritted his teeth and screamed at me! Excuse me?! I have never seen such anger in him!

Hopefully this LONG nap that he is taking will do us all some good.

Great Sleepover = Toddler Hangover the next day

The sleepover was a success...well, everyone was alive the next morning and there were no injuries so that is successful!

Adam, Rebecca, Noah, and Emily came over for pizza and then left around 7:00 for the big sleepover! Aunt Rebecca and Uncle Adam told Hagen about it at dinner and he was so excited!!

They left and took a bath quickly so that movie night could start! They watched a bit of Toy Story before bed in their sleeping bags.
Uncle Adam (My little brother) read a story to them and then it was lights out! There was not a peep! They both stayed in Noah's bed and we were shocked they didn't even try to talk or anything...I think they were in shock.
During the night (4:00 to be exact) Hagen woke up and was talking to Noah. "Where's my Mommy?" "When is my Mommy coming to get me?" "Let's go wait for Mama outside". They never left as neither one of them know they can get out of bed without us there...Kinda like an electric dog collar...zap if you get out of bed. Not really, but that idea.
This went on for an hour. Talking back and forth "Fireworks go boom!" etc. etc. They just talked and talked. Uncle Adam went up there two times to tell them to stop talking and go to sleep. Finally he took Noah downstairs to sleep in the playroom on his nap mat.
7:00 bright and early Hagen woke up. Noah was still asleep. The picture below shows how happy Noah was to see Hagen and how unamused Hagen was ...he's not exactly a morning person if you can't tell.
They ate breakfast and watched morning cartoons and Ryan went to get him around 10:00. Now the fun begins.

Hagen was THE WORST he has EVER been today! We busted out the Sassy Sauce (Ryan calls it Sissy Sauce) and it is not working...yet...it is "operation break the wild stallion" in the Darney Casa tomorrow.
He was so tired and crabby that he asked to take a nap at 11:30 and slept for 2 1/2 hours. Still a total monster when he woke up. My dumb ass took him to Target and he lifted my dress up and OVER my pregnant behind for all to see. I had my hands full and couldn't do anything about it for a bit and was MORTIFIED...not wearing very appropriate undergarments for a prego either if you know what I mean! Ugh...not good!
So, wish Ryan and I luck for tomorrow...we are not leaving the house...we are going through closets, etc. and are not wanting to take the beast out in public. By the way, I have 11 photo albums of pictures since Hagen was born...it's kinda ridiculous...it is all labeled and in order which is good, but I need to chill a bit. Who is going to go through each of those besides me? Well...that's all that matters right...that I enjoy them! Ha!
Tata,
Carrie
P.S. Leopard print undies do not make a pregnant woman look sassy...I was talked into them by an older lady at Soma and I put them on the other day. I think Ryan pissed his pants laughing at me...They are hideous...I think I'll keep them...
P.S.S. Dapper...leave me the HELL alone! Gah! The dog will NOT leave my side! TOTALLY following me EVERYWHERE!
P.S.S.S. Mama rocks...I made 2 more offers this past week. I am a recruiting machine! For now at least

Hagen's first sleepover...

...Hagen has been depressed lately...not really, but just sad. "Noah hasn't been to my house in a long time Mama"..."Is Noah still at his Nana's house?"...etc. etc.

You see, they all went to North Carolina to hang with her family for about 3 weeks! Then her mom came back to spend a week here. SO, we haven't seen them in about a month!

So I told Hagen we would have them over tonight for Pizza and to catch up. He is SO.EXCITED.

This morning Rebecca emailed me to ask if she could host a slumber party. Noah sleeps in a queen bed with rails...he is 2. She wants to see if they can sleep side by side together. So tonight it is! Hagen's first sleep over. He doesn't know it yet and is going to be so excited!

I will have to post a play by play of the evening from Rebecca...stay tuned...

Dapper, Ants, and hooligans!

I love Dapper…I really do. He is our first baby…he’s 90 pounds of pure shedding and drooling joy. But he is DRIVING.ME.NUTS.

When I was pregnant with Hagen he sensed it and never left my side…he is doing it again. This in most instances is fine. But he is getting in the way and is old so he is also stubborn…OK, and I am stubborn too but that is besides the point. The other night, Dapper was almost adopted out because of the rage that was sent through my body, mind, and soul.

I get up a few times at night to go to the bathroom…usually in a sleepwalkers haze. Dapper sleeps on the floor beside our bed. I got two cheap fleece blankets and put one on Ryan’s side and the other on my side. That is his bed. They are washed weekly and are just perfect. Well, usually when I get up in the middle of the night I step on Dapper…his tail, paw, head…but not hard because he is usually there. BUT he also usually moves to Ryan’s side so I don’t repeat it when I get back into bed.

When I return I can see just enough to know there is a dark blanket on the floor…usually Dapperless. Not the other night. He didn’t go to Ryan’s side…he just moved in an even MORE inconvenient space! I fell right on top of him…big belly and all…hard. I was LIVID. I cannot even express the rage that I felt when that damn dog didn’t move. I got in bed, Ryan was freaked out because it was loud, the dog was cowering in the corner and there I was cussing like a sailor!! Ryan patted the dog and went back to sleep. Uh…honey? I’m bearing your baby…and I didn’t even get a pat on the head. I will let it go because he was still asleep. When I got back in bed the baby was kicking like mad…going nuts…for awhile. Everything is fine, but I was SO mad…if something happened to this baby because of his lazy dog butt I would not have been able to forgive…stupid dog…mostly nice, but stupid dog!

***********************************

Hagen was out in the yard with Ryan the other night. I was inside tending to my work email since I was at a convention all day and I heard a gut wrenching scream coming from Hagen. I jumped up and looked out the window and Ryan was holding him and Hagen was looking at his hand BAWLING! You know I’m totally picturing bone out of skin, a wasp stinger poking out of his hand, a tarantula stuck to his hand, flesh eating whatever going on, etc. You have never seen a pregnant woman run so fast…I bolted out there! Fire Ants…fire ants noshed on my baby’s hand. He had about 10 bites. We washed it up good, Ryan got the ant spray out and we killed those ants! Poor baby…it was dramatic. I do not help in these situations…I am pretty dramatic too! So now, Hagen has ANOTHER injury to let Pia know about…see…he has a hurt knee and ant bites…life blows. BTW, Bionic Pia is doing fabulous!

I’m not sure if I mentioned this or not. When I was pregnant but didn’t know it yet, Hagen started putting his bear in his shirt at nap time. He told his teachers that it was his baby sister. Uh…OK?!? Not sure where that came from. But about a week later we found out I was pregnant…and a few months after that found out it was a girl. It makes me wonder about this sixth sense that kids have…so cool…spooky, but cool.

Hagen is getting really excited about becoming a big brother. He shows his friends my belly, hugs it, kisses it, just excited (for now). The other night I told him that we need to practice singing songs that he liked as a baby so we can teach them to Hazel. So “You are my Sunshine”, “Baa Baa Black sheep”, Itsy Bitsy Spider”, and ABC’s have been the hot songs before bed. The other night I put him to bed and then went to bed to watch my DVR’d shows. I heard singing on his video monitor…Hagen was in his bed singing Itsy Bitsy Spider while putting bear in his jammies….he put his baby in his belly and sang to it. Then he rolled over and went to sleep…with bear safe and sound in his belly. Sweet baby…

At night I watch TV in bed…it is where I am comfortable…and hopefully I can fall asleep early. I have had a sleeping problem and have to take Tylenol PM every night. I can’t take it too early or I will wake up at 4AM and be wide awake, so Ryan usually brings it in to me when he is coming to bed between 10-10:30. It is a laughfest every night. He comes in with a glass of water and 2 pills. He waits for me to take a swig of my water and says in a creepy voice, “Now drink up…” or “rest well my love” or “that’s a good girl” kinda like he is implying that he gave me some kind of poison. It the WAY he says it…I spit out water every night…

One last thing to talk about. Kids acting a fool at restaurants. Now, Hagen is not perfect…not by any means. He is pretty well behaved at restaurants because my Dad was SUCH a stickler with us and so we learned very early on to order for ourselves and act good…and yes it was an OR ELSE situation. He didn’t put up with bad restaurant behavior.

Ryan and I think it is a good thing also so Hagen was brought up with the same amount of strictness. Last night proved to us that it was necessary. There was a table right by us that had kids WALKING across the table to get to the other side to be with the other parent…it was a booth. AND the parents did nothing to stop it. It is bad when the 18 year old waiter had to be the one to say “Kids, that is not safe. You could really hurt yourself”. And then the parents chime in, “Ya, so and so…let’s not do that”. Plus, it was a place that served Fajitas…so we all know they usually come on those flipping hot cast iron things…and what are the kids doing? Break dancing or something in the middle of the aisle…while waiters with huge trays of burning hot plates have to wait for them to decide to move because the parents weren’t paying attention.

Know it all Hagen? He was saying over and over, “They are not being good listeners” and “They are not being haved”…it’s nice to have the well behaved kid….but he’s also a bit of a tattle tale whiny boy…hmmm…give and take I guess…

Random as always,
Carrie
