Example Diet...
Here is an example of a day in the life of my diet. Ladies...I was up 30 pounds by 26 weeks of pregnancy with Hagen...by the time I had him 13 weeks later I had lost 3 pounds...healthy pounds...it was not unhealthy let me reiterate that.
You eat all day and are not starving...you may not be satisfied as much as a piece of cake but you are not hungry by any means.
8:00 - Breakfast
1 egg, 1T diced ham, 1T Velveeta shreds cheese - I scramble in the microwave...
1 piece of wheat toast with a little spread on it...I use Brummel and brown...it is yogurt based and good
Water...no milk...NO FRUIT!!!
10:00 - AM Snack
Fiber One bar
6 almonds
12:00 - lunch
Sandwich thins by Orowheat
6 slices of Turkey (3 ounces)
1 piece of Kraft American cheese
1 small apple
1 can of low sodium V8 (there are small cans and larger cans...I do the larger...make sure to do low sodium)
3:00 - snack
1 sugar free pudding cup (trust me...they are good)
10 animal crackers
1 small box of raisins
6:00 - dinner
1/3 cup of brown rice (may not look like much but it is)
3 ounces of meat - small chicken breast, piece of fish, small pork chop, etc.
Spinach salad with lots of veggies on it - I save the fats and put rice vinegar on it...or balsamic...and lots of fresh ground pepper. My mom dilutes ranch by using 1/2 ranch and 1/2 any vinegar...just a tip.
1/2 cup edamame
9:00 - bedtime snack
String cheese
1 1/2 graham crackers...this is one whole rectangle and 1/2 of one.
The key is to balance your carbs and protein. Just because a box of wheat thins say that a serving is so many crackers does not mean it is correct with normal standards. I have found that the box is most of the time way more than a normal amount.
What you do is this...for example:
- the box says the serving size is 22 crackers...for 19 carbohydrates.
- That means that each cracker is .86 carbs.
- a normal serving of carbs is 15...so you take .86X15 and get 12.9...round up and you have your normal serving of 13 crackers.
Also, when looking at something like bread...sometimes a serving is 1 slice and sometimes it is 2...compare...try to keep your carb serving at 15. Protein servings are 5.
Also, for fruit...do not have fruit before lunch or after dinner. Also, no milk for breakfast or bedtime snack.
Here is the breakdown of my protein vs. carbohydrate servings for each meal/snack:
Breakfast - 2 protein and 1 carb
AM Snack - 1 protein and 2 carb
Lunch - 3 protein and 3 carb
Afternoon Snack - 3 carb
Dinner - 3 protein and 3 carb
Bedtime Snack - 1 protein and 1 carb
A normal protein serving is 5 grams or 1 ounce and a normal carb serving is 15 grams.
Hope this helps you!!! It sure helped me...

The troll is out of her cave and loving some rap music
Well, I think last week being sick maybe triggered up some feelings. I was being mean, I was saying things I didn’t mean, I was crying at NOTHING, I was very sensitive, etc. I once again went into that dark hole. On Sunday night I was bawling after Hagen went to bed and was trying to explain to Ryan that I had Post Partum feelings again…I couldn’t explain it. Now, Ryan is the sweetest non-confrontational person you will ever meet. He was at a loss of what to do. He was just staring at me and I told him, “Don’t just sit there and stare at me” and then got up and went to take a bath. I cried in the bath for 45 minutes and he didn’t check on me or anything…went to bed crying and he didn’t come in…I felt lost. I was also mad at my Mom and couldn’t really pinpoint what I was mad about.
I talked to my doctor yesterday and got on some pills…I already feel better but that could be a mental thing like, OK…help has arrived. Ryan and my Mom ARE my support system. Yes, you ladies are a big part of that support too, but I confide in them the most. I think the worst thing I can hear when I am in this funk is, “Ya, you have been acting weird lately” or “Yes, I have noticed you have been a bit down” because that for some reason makes me feel like they have been secretly talking behind my back (which is not the case) about what a crazy wack job I am.
I talked to Ryan on Monday night and apologized and told him I know he had NO idea what to do with me and told him if it happens again to just give me a hug and he doesn’t have to say anything at all…honestly…just hugging me and letting me know that he’s there is all I needed. To be honest, I would have been scared of me too on Sunday….it was not pretty and not something I am proud of.
**********************************************
SO, on other things, my family hasn’t talked to my older brother and his wife and their 3 precious babies (not anymore) in 3 years. It is sad..we have honestly done EVERYTHING we can but they choose to keep themselves separate from all of us. Sadder that they live 5 minutes from me…
Well, Hagen was listening to “Hillbilly Bone” on my phone (he loves that song) and was pushing buttons and playing around with it. Then it went silent…I said, “Hagen let me see that..” He gave it to me and it was Matt’s home phone! Out of ALL the people I have in my phone (I’m a recruiter remember) he had to pick their home phone to prank call! I gasped and hit end….it was only 3 seconds, but my heart stopped…my word…
***********************************************
I love LOVE LOVE the song “Pretty Boy Swag”…go on…go listen to it…and yes, I am a secret lover of Rap music. Now, make sure no young ears are around if you play the unedited version… I heard it on the way to work this morning and it is my new fav…
***********************************************
I will be posting my diet in the next post or two. It is a FABULOUS diet and you can lose weight the healthy way for sure! I’m not hungry during the day…maybe just a bit unsatisfied…like a big hunk of chocolate cake would be nice!!
It shows you how many grams of carbs and protein to eat at each meal….I have learned a lot from it!!

What up! Random post...
I will have to do this post as a list…sorry about that.
1. Hagen is 3 and has had his tubes in his ears for 1 ½ years. They worked their way out (which is normal) and guess what? He has an ear infection. So he is on antibiotics and is running around like nothing is wrong…very hyper actually. I will be keeping a close eye on him because if we start this ear infection trend again, sweet boy will be getting another set sooner rather than later. This morning he said his tube hurts…he has just been hearing me talk about it is all. He was running around like his butt was on fire a second after that.
2. I went to the ER on Saturday night/Sunday morning at 2:30. Ryan was sleeping in the guest room because I was so sick and I woke him up saying I was going to the ER. He freaked…I told him it is my sinus’ and not baby related so chill and I’ll be fine. I walked into the ER (a new one by our house…I think I was the only patient in the hospital and I interrupted nap time) and the lady behind the counter asked if she could help me. I said I was 6 months pregnant, have a cold or a sinus infection and feel like my head is about to explode. She just stared at me for a bit…I told her I was not leaving. I finally saw a doctor and told him that I am doing the netti pot, saline, Vicks, zyrtec, mucinex, and have had about 4 hot baths and 2 hot showers and I can NOT clear my head! He said “Maam, I will give you an antibiotic and you need to do saline and Vicks and call your doctor on Monday”…I started crying but stopped because the pressure was getting worse. So basically, nothing…nothing can be done for your sinus pressure if you are pregnant on the weekend.
3. A new thing? I piss my pants…a lot. With this sickness I have realized that I have lost all control. I did with Hagen but not nearly this bad! I was putting his diapers in my pants because every time I would cough or sneeze (which was a lot) I would pee. So yesterday I wised up and braved up and got some bladder control pad things. Would n’t you know the punk that works there let out a little chuckle? I said, “Laugh it up boy! I’m pregnant and sick…go ahead and laugh it up!” He said “I’m sorry Maam…” punk…
4. I went to my first Matilda Jane party last night! Coco introduced me to it first and I have been in love with TM’s little frocks. I went and the smallest size I could get was 12 months so I ordered 2 little dresses for next winter. She will be having another party on September 1st for the new stuff…SUCH cute things!!
5. Ryan is out of town…left yesterday and won’t be back until Friday…Boo.
6. Update on Miss Hazel Grace: I had an appointment yesterday to check on a few things
a. Gestational Diabetes – I’m a weirdo and like the drink. Not a good sign. I’m waiting to see if I have it again…did with Hagen. It is actually not that bad, you just have to follow a strict diet and prick your finger 4 times a day. It was the best thing that could have happened to me as I was gaining weight VERY fast by eating crap. UPDATE: I do infact have Gestational Diabetes...Been there done that...it's not forever and it is not about me but her so whatever it takes.
b. Sonogram – I had a low laying placenta so he wanted to make sure that moved up…it did. Hazel weighs 2 pounds, she was sleeping while holding each foot with a hand, had the hiccups, and has a beautiful heart. I love seeing all the organs in working condition you know? Like all 4 chambers of their heart, the spine, her little belly going up and down as she is practicing breathing. I did have to roll over on my left side as I felt sick…laying on your back with that baby’s weight on your blood vessels can make you a bit light headed.
c. I am now going to be seeing him every 2 weeks…is it crazy to you that I am already going every 2 weeks? Man, this is going by FAST…
7. While I was at the doctor I told him I am feeling better but not that much better. He told me to try Claritin D. So I got some on the way home and took one at noon yesterday and went to bed. I could not sleep but rested a long time. Then last night I was wide awake?! What? I’m a sleeper and usually have NO problems sleeping! I even took a Tylenol PM so what is the deal? This morning I figured it out. I got the 24 hour extended relief Claritin D…NON-DROWSY. Yep, they make a 24 hour Non-drowsy kind. What the hell? Who wants a 24 hour Non-drowsy anything! I am confused…and feel stupid…and warned my boss if he finds me face down at my desk at 12:00 to just wake me up every hour to use the restroom (wait, that isn’t a problem because I have a Noah’s Ark Size piddle pad in my pants). Seriously…sister is going to DIE tonight. I’m so excited! Plus Jersey Shore is on…
8. LOVING Hazel Grace more and more. I received my first monogrammed gift the other day from sweet Heather Cheatham. It was so neat to see her name!
9. I ordered some art for her room. You can see it here: http://www.enjoyart.com/single_posters/antiquecoastalartsigns/VintageCoastalArtWoodSign.htm Instead of Monterey at the bottom I have them do “Hazel Grace”. I cannot WAIT to see what it looks like!!
10. Pia has graduated to a cane! She went to get the mail out of her mailbox yesterday and it was the first time she had been out of the house in 3 weeks…she said it was wonderful! 3 more weeks and she can drive.
11. Christmas…I’m already thinking about it because with a new born I may not want to do much shopping…but then again I may! I have no ideas for Hagen. He has so many toys but doesn’t play with them a lot. I don’t know what to do…ideas??

Icky Sicky Darney's!
I went to the clinic this morning and he basically after I told them I am 6 months pregnant he pretty much wouldn't diagnose anythign...nothing...didn't even do a strep test. It was like he was afraid to give me something. While he was checking me out Hagen announced that he needed to go Poo Poo really bad...nice. by the way the reason I took him with me is because Ryan can mow and trim the bushes way faster without the master of disaster with him.
So I left with a couple of prescriptions that I MAY be able to fill out after I talk to my doctor. I called my OBGYN to make sure I could take them and was going to leave a message for the on call Dr. to call me...well the phone system is down....so I'm just waiting.
I also took Hagen back to the doctor. A little background, he had tubes put in 1 1/2 years ago...they worked their way out recently which is normal. He has been snotty and froggy throat all week. I took him again today to the doctor to make sure he isn't indeed sick. Well, he has an ear infection. I hope and pray that we are not on that road again. It was 3 months of back to back double ear infections!
So, Hagen and I are icky sicky...poor Ryan...I am reminding him how awful I feel every 10 minutes at least.
By the way, Ryan is trying to put Hagen's pants back on after him going to the potty and his thingy just hit Ryan's ear...Ryan is a bit creeped out.
Also, when I told Ryan I didn't feel good this morning and I was going to the doctor he told me, "Well, you've had a good run..." Thanks alot...he said I have had a good life so it's OK for me to let go. I'm so loved...

Chucky is the devil
The party was at 5:00 on a Wednesday...normally not good for the working parents, but you know...it was kinda nice! Not having to plan your weekend around a birthday party.
Hagen had a great time playing on all the rides, ate 3 pieces of pizza, and then the show started! AND Chucky came out. Hagen FREAKED! I was practically choking at how hard he had his arms wrapped around my neck.
There were some rough boys and we all know that Hagen is a bit more dainty...I was proud of myself holding back from protecting him. I'm really trying to work on it as Ryan and I have talked that I could be enabling the wimpy behavior...very true. now, I did watch closely and would have drop kicked one certain little hell raiser if he laid a finger on him. This kid sucker punched another little boy that was younger than him 2 times! FOR NO REASON! And the mother (whom I went to high school with) did nothing...wasn't even watching him at all...he was raising hell and she had no idea. OR did she? I've heard he is like that all the time and they just ignore it while other kids cry and bleed.
Hagen bought a lolly pop, a tootsie roll, and a glittery ring with his tickets (an me 2 airheads but he didn't know) and was so proud.
Another story: Hagen was learning about traveling this week at school. Yesterday they made some beaded bracelets! I was so happy when he handed it to me thinking he made it especially for me! Nope...he said it is for Daddy. I couldn't even hold it in the car. He did...to make sure I didn't take it. Then Ryan was tucking him in to bed last night and he said, "Daddy, you can sleep in your bracelet if you want to...and then give it to Mama in the morning when you wake up." So Ryan "left" the bracelet on the counter for me this morning to wear to work...
One little tidbit: Hagen is not a picky eater, but I am always wanting to throw in new things here and there. While we were in California Merrilee gave him a parfait of yogurt and granola. Hagen LOVED it. So in the morning he has been eating a huge bowl of vanilla yogurt with Granola...he is in heaven. Thanks for the tip Mer!!!

The Batchelorette...Hagen Vs. Logan
She moved here to the US about 6 years ago and is teaching gymnastics in Plano at Nastia's gym.
Anyway, just a little scoop about my son's future Mother in Law...she's the bomb.
She sent me a note on Facebook (what did we do before texting, email, facebook, etc.) saying that Juliette wanted Hagen and Logan to come over after school for a play date! I was texting the other mom asking her if she thought it was a drop off or stay and hang...we got the impression it was a drop off but of course wanted to make sure! So I was the sacrificial lamb and played dumb (because we all know I'm brilliant) and asked. She meant it as a drop off and for me and the Logan's mom to go rest...we are both pregnant. How sweet!
So at 5:00 Logan and Hagen were dropped off and then picked up at 6:30. They both did not want to leave...Hagen was crying and all! Hagen was SO excited to play with the African American "Twinkerbell", the sticker earrings, and the bracelets. You know he was in heaven! He started crying and saying he wanted to spend the night. I wonder if he will do that when he is a teenager...cry to me that he wants to spend the night at a girls house?! Let's hope not. Cecile kindly said, "I don't have to be at work until 9:00 so he is more than welcome to stay." So sweet...but no...I'm nice...I will not let you do that. He's been a monster lately!
So Hagen had a total blast! They played dolls, Doll house, golf, chased the cats, ate goldfish, played jewelry, and had such a good time!! AND they live in the neighborhood right across from ours! I can see the two of them being friends for a long time...at least I hope so.

25 weeks
Hazel Grace Darney it is! I had some comments on if that is 100% the name and it is. With this more than likely being our last baby I would kick myself if I didn't use it. I have to thank Coco...she is the first person that told me I am crazy if I didn't use it...I never thought about it...I'm so glad she brought it up to me.
Operation break the stallion? Hmmm...not sure if it is going well or not. He has had about a gallon of sassy sauce and had time out as well. One time out was because he wanted to play play-doh. I told him not now and maybe we can later if he improves on his listening skills we can. He clinched up his fists and gritted his teeth and screamed at me! Excuse me?! I have never seen such anger in him!
Hopefully this LONG nap that he is taking will do us all some good.
