It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

I was so excited for tonight! I've been looking forward to it for a long time...having a kiddo old enough to enjoy it...so exciting!

Ryan was working late, so Hagen and I had a nice dinner together and then straight to the bath! he had a nice bath, put his Halloween PJ's on and then it was off to make Hot Chocolate! Now, I'm not talking about the cheap powder hot chocolate (not that it is bad or anything)...I'm talking Williams Sonoma shaved chocolate that you stir into hot milk. Once you have tried this concoction, you will never go back! he helped stir until all the chocolate was melted and then we poured it into his sippy cup and added a bit more cold milk to cool it down.

We then got our candy corn (he calls it candy hearn...draw it out now with a Texas twang...there you go), unfolded the sleeping bags, and Daddy walked in...perfect timing!

Hagen had his sippy of Hot Chocolate, his lit up Jack-o-lanterns, his candy corn, his sleeping bag, and Mama and Daddy by his side. What a fun night! Except for the kid didn't drink his hot chocolate, The Great Pumpkin is dumb...really dumb, and Hagen wouldn't sit still to watch...he was on a candy corn high!

But, it was a great night...loved all the preparing for it...Hagen was excited and such a good boy.

We are going to finally carve our pumpkins on Friday night in time for Halloween and roast our seeds...yummy!

Nite Nite,
Carrie

P.S. Hagen is snotty...no fever, but snotty as all get out...Please Please PLEASE don't get sick for Halloween! It will be just so sad for Mama and Daddy to not see you prance around in your Fireman costume at your Halloween Parade on Friday! :(

Ugh...

...did I really just start after I posted that on my blog less than 10 minutes ago...this blows.

I'm BAAACK!

SO sorry to disappear for awhile. I can give a whole list of excuses but that's just dumb.

It's crazy the guilt you feel when you neglect your blog! Like the guilt of not going to church, or skipping out on a party you just don't feel like going to, etc.

I have a few things I would like to discuss...let's begin:

1. We have found a way to keep our "otherwise pretty well behaved kid" from not being a TOTAL butt hole during nap time at school. Hagen and I went to the store and got some construction paper and he picked out stickers (glittery heart ones...no spider man, or trucks...glitter hearts) and we made a calendar! For every day that he takes a good nap, doesn't throw bear across the room, doesn't yell "NO" to his teacher who gently asks him to lay down, etc. he gets to pick out a sticker and put it on the day. (by the way, 3 out of the 5 that he got last week were the pink.glitter.heart...Ryan is just beside himself).

This is working out really well! He got 5 last week so it was off for a special outing. We went to Ryan's work to check out the ducks in the pond and then the alligator (a sculpture) as well. Then it was off to "eat pizza at watch TV"...He loves watching cartoons at certain pizza places. Now, let me tell you that Gattitown is my new favorite place! You see I love me some BBQ chicken pizza and Gatti's is the best! Plus frozen coke...are you kidding me? I'm in heaven!

While we were there Hagen had a major accomplishment. Hagen hates motorized toys...but we got on the carousal and he did good on a horse that didn't move. But then he wanted to get on it again but he wanted a horse that went up and down. he was So proud of himself!! Way to be brave Hagen!

2. Today is Ryan and I's 7th wedding anniversary!! I love him more and more everyday. He is a great person in general and I feel privileged to be his wife. His butt is still as awesome as it was in high school (wish I could say the same).

3. I went to dinner last night to see Casey and Little's. I met some great new girls and had such a fun time! It is crazy the amount of people that I have come in contact with through Facebook and the blog world.

4. I had a 2nd girls weekend last week and had a ball! It was just couple of girls from High School and we just drank and talked...non stop! It was the best!!

The best part about the girls weekend was coming home. You see, I left the house in total disarray...I mean, no groceries, no clean laundry, dust everywhere, bathrooms needing to be cleaned...I do all that stuff on the weekend. I felt bad about leaving it in such a way.

I came home on Sunday prepared to clean, cook, shop, etc. Walked in to a fresh clean house! Ryan did all the laundry and put it away (only on thing out of place), washed and re hung towels, washed all sheets and re-made beds, dusted, cleaned toilets, and vacuumed. What a man, what a man, what a mighty good man, yes he is....

All is good in Darneyland...Hagen has started saying "I love you" at random times that just melt my heart. He has been really good lately despite all this rain we are having! I will say that he has watched WAY WAY WAY more TV this month that I am even comfortable with, but I am going to chalk it up to the rain we have been having and wanting to keep him warm and dry...no piglet flu for me!!! (Coco...love your name for it)

Since this is my blog and a "family journal" I would like to say that I am late...my period that is. I am usually a 23-28 cycle day kind of girl. I am on day 31. My hopes are way up...I feel crampy...it may be coming, but I just don't know. Took 4 tests and they are all negative...just went to the doctor for blood test and they will call tomorrow with the results.

It is so hard to have patience...the planning has begun in my mind and I would really like to put on my maternity pants right now because my eating habits have been less than stellar...please pray for this to be it.

Ta ta for now!
Carrie

Hagen is perfecting a new art

it is the art of S.T.A.L.L.I.N.G...

Man alive, he is killing me! he has always stalled at the dinner table. But we have found a cure. "Hagen, take and ALLIGATOR bite of your green beans..." Done "Hagen, take an ELEPHANT bite of steak" Done. So this has worked.

Now he is going into areas beyond what I can control. Let's talk about night night ritual. Hagen has a good one. Ryan and I split it up and try to alternate what we do so that on nights when one of us in not here it is no big deal. Here is the routine:
1. Take a bath or shower
2. Snuggle in a towel on couch to dry off
3. Go potty and put diaper and PJ's on
4. Eat Flintstone vitamin, do booger sucker if needed, apply aquifor if needed
5. Hagen brushes teeth, then parent helps, then Hagen re brushes them
6. Wash hands with fun new foam soap
7. Read 3 books while sipping milk ("Hagen, take 3 sips before the next page...")
8. Go to room and tell 2 stories
9. Sing 3 songs (lately it is either Old McDonald, ABC's, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Sunshine - mama's favorite, and Itsy Bitsy Spider)
10. Snuggle and kiss and night night...See you in the morning!

Now, he has added a few:
1.5 blow bubbles, drink dirty water, "sleep" on the shower floor...stalls to get out
2.5 Runs around like a naked wild Indian on crack...honestly, I have never seen anything like it. He tackles, runs around, screams...I think he popped my boob last night and my bladder from the tackling.
7.5 S.L.O.W.L.Y drinks milk...I mean, so ridiculously slow. We try to get him to drink as much as we can so he can have healthy bones...he needs them for his carefree tackling and just plain throwing himself on the floor
9.5 He is testing us...he picks the animals for the song and we do the sound together. Well, the new ones are crab (pinch pinch), Sting Ray (sting sting), Daddy (Booya Booya), Hagen (NO NO), Shark (chomp chomp), Spider...what? What the hell kind of sound does a spider make? And yes, they are part of the farm...Charlotte's Web?! Every night it is a new one...so every night Ryan and I have a pow-wow to discuss sounds that we had to make up.
AND FINALLY...
10.5 "mama, I gotta Pee Pee..." NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO this can't be! I can't handle being that close to the finish line only to have to take off your PJ's, Diaper, and then you just pee a drop...one Measly drop. Ugh. You know I just want to tell him that is what his diaper is for. But I can't/won't.

this morning was rough. I woke up late, but not terribly late. I got Hagen some cereal and watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in my bed while I finished getting ready.

Then we went straight to school...no Sonic first because we were coming up on 8:30 when circle time at school begins. well, we get to his school and he informs me that he is not finished with his "bresfist". So we sit there and I tell him that's OK and to continue eating. 15 minutes later it was done...well, I made it done. He was eating Trix cereal (don't judge me) and was eating one little nugget at a time...and I swear he was chewing slowly too. Agh! shove a whole fistful in your mouth like you do most of the time with your snacky stuff and come on!

I hate rushing him in the morning especially when it comes to eating, but he just usually doesn't eat breakfast that often. WHY this morning? I'm so gonna get fired if this keeps up...

Love,
Mama

Hagen and eating

As most of you know, Hagen is a small fry! To get him to eat is one of the most challenging things. OK, so I am exaggerating a bit...he does eat...but it is mostly Chex Mix, Goldfish, teddy grahams, fruit, etc. I'm not concerned about his weight because he is falling in line with family history...he just has his own curve (that is going up by the way...he's 23 pounds 4 ounces now).

If I need him to eat I bust out the meat sticks. You know, the kids version of Vienna sausages. he loves them! I like them too, but I let him eat them. Last night he ate the whole jar, some blueberries and Strawberries, and some baked beans. I gave him the meat sticks because Ryan and I were having Firecracker Shrimp and it is WAY too spicy for Hagen.

What we have been doing lately is telling him after he eats # bites of this and # of those and whatnot that he can be done. Well last night he had to eat 4 blueberries and 3 bites of beans (he had eaten alot, but we wanted him to eat a bit more...). There is obviously more explaining that we need to do because our poor baby was trying so hard to get that 3rd spoonful of beans in his mouth when there was already 2 spoonfuls and 4 blueberries.

lesson learned my son...sorry about the choking...it won't happen again.

Mama

Dreaming...

Babies, babies are on my mind! Well, more like BABY...not so much for multiples. Of course, if it happened that would be lovely...maybe not all the time, but I have faith that we would survive.

I'm there ladies. I am ready to be pregnant again! Now, I'm hoping it just happens....that would be nice! Especially since there is nothing wrong with either one of us. I LOVED being pregnant! Loved the attention, loved just the whole thing!! Here I am 2 days before I had Hagen... Here is one of the sonograms that we had. Ryan thought he looked familiar...isn't it scary?! I mean, they didn't warn us that the 3D sonogram was going to be that skeletal looking. He is 17 weeks at this point...not much fat on him...A face only a Mother could love...
Here is Hagen when he was a week old. He was a little tree frog...that's what we called him. I carried him around like this for the most part. I wore that blue robe for the first few months of his life...still have it. Isn't he cute?!

Here is another picture of him at a week old. My Dad came over to do a photo shoot for us. This is Hagen in his Feltman outfit...love Feltman. It is his going home clothes.

See why I want another?! I'm ready! Let's all say a prayer for everything to work properly...we did it once before, let's get this party started!
Love,
Carrie

Hagen

There are so many things about Hagen that make me love him more and more everyday. I need to remember these things that make me smile as he is testing my patience with him also...because, well...he's 2!
1. I love when we ask if he wants to do something and he responds "Maybe later" or "Maybe next time". This is nice to hear instead of "NO" that is usually yelled.

2. When I go to the bathroom I am always encouraged by a good ole "Good Girl Mama!" It's nice to be encouraged every once in awhile!

3. no matter the size of what he does with #2 he always says, "That's a BIG one!" So proud...even if it is the size of a skittle!

4. Yesterday was Dapper Dog's 7th birthday...birthdays' = cupcakes! We sang to Dapper and when Hagen sings the song it is like nails on a chalkboard. "Happy Birthday to Dapper, Happy Birthday to Dapper, Happy BIIIIIIIIIRTHDAY to Dapper, Happy Birthday to Dapper." Now, the part that I put alot of IIII's in is the hard part...it is really loud, high pitched and screechy! Cute, but wow...

5. I love how he has started putting random things in his pants pocket. Today it was Ramen noodles...what will tomorrow hold? I'm scared of the future pocket picking...

6. He takes great pride in his under ware pickings. Nemo? Oscar? Elmo? who knows! Today Nemo won...

7. It takes him FOREVER to pick out a special treat for going #2 on the potty...honestly...I set the timer. He only pics skittles or smarties, but geez! He has to look like he has never seen it before...

8. He loves him some construction vehicles: Diggers, delivery trucks, trash trucks, dump trucks... Well this morning we saw one we haven't seen any of! A Crane! The clouds lifted, the sun shined on it like no other, it was a beautiful morning...we saw it once going to Sonic and then AGAIN on the way to school...2 crane's in one morning...priceless...

9. I love being greeted in the morning when I open his door with him saying, "I slept good"! We always say good morning, how did you sleep? So now before we have a chance to ask he just tells us!

10. Black Eyed Peas song...Boom Boom Pow. Hagen's new favorite song...he says "Boom Boom Pow, this chicken jacked my style"...aww, so proud...

11. Hagen LOVES sitting in the drivers seat of Ryans truck. The other morning Ryan got in to go to work and the radio was on some random Hispanic station, turned all the way up, his blinker was on, brights on, windshield wipers on, and there was a goldfish in his seat. The funniest part was that we hung golf balls to let us know when we stop in the garage to have as much room in the front of our cars...the windshield wipers were flinging that ball all over the place! Nice wake up call!

12. Hagen loves to watch the trash trucks. Most of the time it is timed perfectly when we get home and they arrive! I pop open the hatch back and we sit in it and watch. Hagen always informs me that if I am scared to plug my ears and I won't be scared. Smart boy...

13. He loves to dust and vacuum...he actually did a good job dusting with me yesterday!!

14. He has to sleep with a bear and blanket every night. We haven't actually tried to not let him have it...wonder what he would think? My Mom knits BEAUTIFUL blankets for babies. I always wanted to MAKE my babies like them...I didn't have to make Hagen like them, he just naturally liked them over the other kind. AND she made him bears to match...so Bear and Blanket go to bed with Hagen.

15. I love hearing him sing his ABC's...especially the "LMNOP" part...hilarious!

16. "No Nose!" when i come at him with the booger sucker.

Basically I have nothing for a blog post...just was thinking of random Hagen things...hope you enjoyed!

Love,
Carrie
