L.A.Z.Y.

I could not be more lazy today. With not having to clean house I am at a loss as to what to do with myself. I have organized recipes, organized cords that end up in the junk drawer, and done some laundry. Oh, and I cleaned out the cat box! Yaaa...that's about it. Oh, I just ate two kid size frozen snickers that I found in the freezer.

I took a shower.
I fed Hagen chocolate donuts for breakfast.
I filled up kitty's food bowl.
I picked up some toys.

That's.All.

Ryan had to do some work outside today and took Hagen with him so I could get some stuff done around the house and I am sitting here wasting it away! But, I am truly enjoying the silence and downtime. I just feel bad and lazy! I was even too lazy to go see a movie I've been wanting to see, Valentine's Day.

What to do, what to do...or NOT to do is the question.

Nice Saturday

Last night I was telling Hagen I loved him so much. He responded, "I love you little much!" and then started laughing. Funny boy...trying to make jokes.

I swear every time that sweet baby says purple I just melt..."pur-pur"...so cute!

Today was a great day! We really didn't accomplish much, but just relaxing and Hagen was in a great mood!

Ryan has been wanting to build a garden for awhile, so Hagen and Ryan headed out to Home Depot and got wood and some stain. We are going to have it in a sand box kind of thing with weed barrier on the bottom. We will start small with some chives, tomatos, cilantro, and maybe some lettuce. We're excited!

Hagen and I did the weekly grocery trip and got some stuff for a few new crock pot recipes. With me working a bit more during the day it is nice to have dinner prepared when we get home.

Tonight we drank some beers while cooking steaks out! I threw some Chili/Lime corn on the cob onto the grill as well and it was SO.GOOD. I have never been a corn person...cream corn is the DEVIL, but I have come to like corn on the cob. I LOVE how Hagen says it..."Cwern"...sound it out.

Tonight while giving him a bath he looked up at me and said, "I'm so happy Mama". I said, "really, why are you so happy?" He said, "cuz you save my life". I have no idea what he is talking about, but it was just so sweet how he stopped playing and said he was so happy. Sweet baby.

We stopped putting lotion on him awhile ago, but recently noticed his skin being dry, so we started greasing him up again. I forgot how much I love the smell of Johnson's baby lotion...it is my crack...I can not get enough of it!

While Ryan was grilling out we had the back door open and Hagen was running in and out. I was sitting at the kitchen table reading a gossip magazine while tending to the baked beans on the stove and every time Hagen would come in he would lay his head in my lap and hug my leg. He is so lovey lately...love it!!

He is down for the night, Ryan and I are chilling on the couch...I'm about to make him change this channel he is watching...some war movie. Not in the mood.

Mom and Dad are in Puerto Rico and are leaving on a cruise in the morning. I'm so jealous! I can't wait to take a trip with just Ryan! I'm not sure when that is going to be. Would be nice to go to Playa Del Carmen where we honeymooned and just relax...hmmm...maybe sometime soon.

Our Wife Arrived Yesterday!

Before I got pregnant with Hagen we had a cleaning lady. She would come every other week to clean and it was SO nice to come home to a clean house!

After Hagen was born we cut back on things. Not because he was here, but because I started working part-time and making ½ the money.

The idea here was that since I was not working full-time I would have the time to clean house after picking him up from “school”. All while cooking a healthy and balanced meal in my heels and freshly ironed dress with a cute, never stained apron! AND, my baby would be calmly watching Baby Einstein soaking up all the educational goodness. Then my husband would prance in, scoop up said baby, come over and dip me romantically while telling me how much he missed me that day.

WELL, that is not exactly what was going on. I would get the kiddo after work, come home and throw something in the sink to thaw and bake it later. Hagen and I would play a bit, but it was a lot of washing bottles, etc. You know, normal things. I could have easily cleaned a bathroom or 2, but didn’t feel like it. So I would save all housework for the weekend!

I am not someone who can clean a bathroom one day and dust something the next night. I want it all clean at the same time! It just happens to take up at least a ¼ of my weekend with laundry and cleaning. SO, I finally talked Ryan into hiring another WIFE! Woo Hoo! They came yesterday (a husband and wife…Maria and Roberto) and did a wonderful job! My floors will be moped every week, blinds dusted every week, they even unloaded the dishwasher, cleaned out my refrigerator, folded the towels in the dryer, added the towels that were in the washer and put my dirty sheets in the washer. AND they bring all their own stuff!

AND, my toilet paper was folded into a pretty little design…it’s the little things.

I feel a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. I never understood before having Hagen why there were stay at home Moms that had cleaning people. SHAME.ON.ME. I GET it now. The kiddo alone is a full time job, then you throw the cleaning on and it is 2 full-time jobs.

Welcome to the family my loves!

Hagenisms and stories

The other day while driving in the car Hagen said, “Mama? I’m so little…” It kinda made me sad for him. Not that it is a big deal right now, but he is listening to everyone that see’s him saying “He’s so little!” Now, it doesn’t bother me…I think he is adorable. But do you think it may start bothering him? He is little, but man…he is tough! Every once in awhile he gets this look in his eyes before tackling you…you know you are in trouble because he will “accidentally” hurt you whatever it is he is about to do! I have lost lots of hair lately from accidental pullings…and things just getting caught in my bird nest hair.

We were on our way to HELL…I mean Little Gym…and he told me that Mama drives a jeep (Honda Pilot, close enough) and Daddy drives a “Hick Up Truck” How cute is that! Hick up truck…ha!

There is a new hospital by our house…a small one and brand spanking new! Hagen asks what it is and I tell him that people go there when they are REALLY hurt or REALLY sick. He wants to go so bad…I have no idea why! So yesterday when I picked him up from school he said Madison bonked him in the head with a truck and he needs to go to the hopspital…not a mis-spelling.

When I picked him up from school the other day his teacher said that she had a funny thing to tell me. You see, there are two teeny tiny potty’s in his classroom. Well, he was going and looked over at Sweet little Juliette and asked her where her peanuts is. Hagen, come on now! Let’s stop this non-sense and enjoy being a toddler…you are too young to be into these “things”…gah! Plus it is FREAKING.ME.OUT!

Hagen is also perfecting his art of whining and stalling…has been for awhile. I have now started just ignoring him when he is asking for something by whining. He just keeps going! In the bathtub last night:
Hagen: “Mama, I want a drink of water, OK? Mama, I want a drink of water, OK? Mama, I want a drink of water, OK? Mama, I want a drink of water, OK? Mama, I want a drink of water, OK? Mama, I want a drink of water, OK?”
Finally I said, "do you know why I am not answering you?”
He said, “Because I’m Whining”.
Yep, you got it! So what does he do? He whines, “Mama, I want a drink of water, OK?”

We are starting to reward GOOD behavior. Like putting his socks on by his big self. Really it is just a test of my patience which by the way this morning I had N.O.N.E. We give him a sticker. This morning he finally earned his sticker and he wanted it on his back. Under his shirt. Uh, OK…

This may sound like complaining, I am not trying to. I love my baby more than words can describe, but I just don’t LIKE some of this little “fits” lately! I need to get a book…a thin one…with lots of pictures about disciplining boys. Any recommendations? I did the best toddler on the block. He is the best toddler on the block…OK, maybe just the ONLY toddler on the block.

50's day at school!

Here he is! Ready for the 50's sock hop at school!
Looking innocent. Notice the shoes...they are the ones that I got when I found out he was a little boy! Happy day!!
Hagen had his valentine party at school today and had a great time! He got lots of goodies including FUN DIP! That's what he picked out as a snack to eat. I tricked him into just knowing about the stick and not the sugar. I was not ready for the sugar part of the fun dip...remember the picture of decorating the valentine cookies...sugar.everywhere.
We signed up to bring ham sandwiches for the party. I did heart shaped sandwiches and they turned out so cute!
Today was my first day at 6 hours instead of 5. So I worked 9-3, came home and watched Dr. Phil and picked Hagen up at 4:30. This is a good time to pick him up because it is after nap, snack and recess...if I go to pick him up before recess we have to stay and play...I choose to pick him up AFTER recess so I don't have to play.
We came home and dinner was in the crock pot. it was SO good! We then played hide and seek, ball, and puppets.
Tonight at bath time Hagen was splashing EXTRA hard. I told him to stop, he decided not to, so bath time was cut short. Sad but true Hagen...Mama is the boss and when you CHOOSE to not listen then you CHOOSE a consequence.
Mom and Dad are possibly going to buy my Grandpa's lake house on Lake of the Ozarks. Casey, be prepared to come visit us in the summer when we go...would LOVE to have you and we could have so much fun!! More on that later...it is not a done deal, but looking promising. It is nice that the house will be bought by someone in the family so that we can KEEP it in the family. My Uncle Ricky and Aunt Linda live across the cove so they are really close. Love that!
Sitting down to watch the bachelor...love this show...LOVE Jake, but he is wearing on me. He may actually be too sensitive and kind of a weenie. Cute weenie though...I mean, not that I have seen it, but he is a weenie and cute.

Valentine Weekend Update!

We had a great weekend!

On Saturday we went to a hockey game. Evan is 7 and is Ryan's co worker's son. He is GREAT! His Mama was a figure skater for 16 years and his Uncle is a step below being a pro hockey player. Hagen was so excited to get a picture with Evan in his hockey gear and Evan even let him hold a glove.

From there we headed to Madison's birthday party. She is a classmate of Hagen's. The place where it was held was FREEZING cold. The only way to warm up? Join Hagen and his friends in the bounce house. There was dancing under bubbles, bounce houses, games, and cake with hats that were pink and said princess. Hagen had a blast and came home to take a 2 hour nap...IN.HIS.UNDERWARE! He was really excited to sleep in his under ware and we were nervous when he was sleeping so long. But he woke up dry and was pumped! Go Hagen!

Hagen and I decorated heart cookies for the grandparents and neighbors...one cookie got all the sugar because Hagen was licking icing off the same hand he was holding the sugar so it spilled out at once.

On Sunday it was Valentine's Day! Our Snowman finally lost his head and is now a heap of ice...sad, but ready for the snow to leave!

We took Hagen to hang out at Papa and Pia's house while we went to a movie. We saw Avitar in 3D...AWESOME! I now want to have a pet dragon, live in a tree house, and be an avitar because they have nice butts, flat tummy's and thin waists. :)

We came home and took naps, delivered our valentine cookies and had heart shaped sandwiches for dinner.

Hagen is now in bed and Ryan and I are relaxing about to watch TV.

Some funny Hagenisms:

1. Hagen told Ryan he had two belly buttons like Mama! We were both afraid to ask, but he lifted his shirt and pointed to his boobs. Ryan said they weren't belly buttons and thank the lord Hagen didn't ask what they were. Ryan and I decided to tell him it was his chest.

2. At dinner tonight Hagen asked for some milk. Daddy said he was going to get a beer so Hagen told me while I was getting his milk, "Mama, go get Daddy a beer". Now son, let's get this straight...FIRST you ask please and SECOND, Mama is the boss and will not be getting Daddy a beer...unless I am getting one myself. There...said...now obey.

Ryan and I got Hagen some new jeans. He wasn't there for us to try them on, but we came home and they are a bit big, but so cute! They are longer which is needed, and they have the grow straps in them. They are 18-24 month. I am so excited because it is 50's day at school tomorrow for their Valentine's Party that was supposed to be on Friday but school was canceled due to the snow.

I was going to roll a box of raisins in his t-shirt instead of stogies, but it is too cold outside so he will be sporting a button down, rolled up jeans, his high top converse and slicked back hair...can't wait to share pictures!

Night,

Carrie

Another ode to my stay at home Mom friends

It's a snow day! Yippee! Hagen's school was closed so I had to do some work from home this morning. No need in me going in as I didn't have THAT much to do. Had to get someone in for some interviews which called for me telling people to drive to the office on the not so great streets. We got 1 foot of snow people! CRAZY!

The interview went down and got REALLY good feedback...Mama still has it! Ha!

So this morning Hagen and Ryan went out to play in the snow. Ryan was worried about our porch covering as it had alot of snow on it. So he got up on the roof and pushed the snow off with a broom/squeegee thing. Dapper was in heaven chasing snowballs, Hagen was WHINY and cold. It is so pretty, but I can't help but think of what a mess our yard is going to be in a few days when all this snow melts and becomes water...MUD...IN.MY.HOUSE.

Ryan went into work at around noon...I begged him not to leave me cooped up inside with a 2 year old monster child. He mentioned that I should take him to Gattitown. DONE! So we went, I got my BBQ chicken pizza and frozen coke and was so happy. We went in to play some games and Hagen's friend Jackson from school and his Mom Lisa were there! They came with some people from their neighborhood, but their kids were 10 years old and up, so little 2 year old Jackson didn't quite fit in. Hagen and Jackson ran around and Lisa and I just chatted away! LOVE her! We would say hi and bye to each other, but never really talked. AND they live about a mile from us! So exciting meeting new friends with kiddos close in age AND boys!

I was telling her about my worries with Hagen and she said, "Well mine is the kid that picks his nose and eats it!" Ha! Made me feel better! We agreed to meet up sometime and let the boys play and have some dates.

We were there for 3 hours, came home and it was nap time...I made Hagen a promise. He could lay in my bed and watch Air Bud and have a snack but he had to rest. If he comes out then he has to go to bed in his room and go nite nite...so far so good!

Yeah snow day!
